    Where could I find trannys in good shape lol I feel like I can't trust people

    I got mine for $220 and all it needed was a new synchro set ($150ish) so I could have had a running one for $370 but I'm trying to get at least and LSD in it before I throw it on

    Best thing to do is find a tranny in a car and test drive it before they pull it and your pretty much set (but most of the time thats not possible )

    I mean you can open it up and look at the gears and syncros before you buy it is another thing, but you gotta be able to pull it apart and inspect it or have someone you know pull it apart and look at it for you.

    But mostly its an iffy situation. I brought an A2 trans without opening it up before I brought it a couple weeks ago from a local guy (I knew him cause of local car meets). But he told me the trans was in perfectly running shape, stock A2 gears, and quaife LSD......... Trans was in pretty good shape and did have quaife LSD, but did not have 4.3FD, it came with 4.7FD, and 4th gear has a very slight gear whine to it...... But I mean for the price I got it at I really couldn't bitch because it was a COMPLETE steal so MEH

    Damn that's so cheap! I paid $950 shipped for the z3 trans I bought last summer when my second gear broke.

    Ya sounds like you got a nice deal since the Quaife alone is like $1000. Plus these transmissions like to whine in 2nd and 4th. Mine does.

    thanks for the advice [MENTION=185]aLmk[/MENTION] and [MENTION=56]PetefromtheStreets[/MENTION] ! I got the tranny torn apart and found that the problem is that the 3-4 hub and sleeve are grinded together. The sleeve is jagged in between the teeth which is why the tranny cannot shift into 4th.

    Now final questions for yall, I tried looking up the parts but they only come in a full set. Any help on how to find the sleeve and hub alone?

    Unfortunately I don't think that is possible any more.
