I debated for HOURS at Best Buy with the sales guy between the D3200 and the Canon EOS T3I. In the end price was a big factor but specs were of course on the top. I tried asking lots of people and that's just a disaster as everyone has their opinion and it's just their opinion. . . The Nikon came in an impressive bundle box deal. I got the D3200 camera, two lenses and the bag for $530 bucks! The Canon with one lens and no case was $575. So I'm already up one lens and a bag for less money. The megapixels are higher on the Nikon, it offers wiFi, Remote photo capabilities a couple other nice features. I then opted to buy a short ranged fix lens for all my fun close up pics.
The one main option I wish the Nikon offered that the Canon does is the touch screen flip out adjustable LCD screen. It's a great option as you often take shots reaching over your head or down super low and with an adjustable screen you can see exactly what you're shooting at.
