    Replacing Pulleys

Need to change my top two pulleys, I want to get them powdercoated as well. Was planning on going with OEM, but this is my first venture at replacement pulleys. Figured you gurus could help a fellow guru.

which pulleys are they? power steering? idler puller? ac?

i always used a socket (not sure size, maybe 14) with an extension bar. Put it on the idler puller and pulled down. This relieved the tension and could remove the belt. When ever i needed to remove a pulley, i used an impact gun.

    Re: Replacing Pulleys

Well, the top two are whining. Not sure what they are. One's the idler puller, the other isn't the alternator, so whatever other one is up top. Sounds stupid, but that's as in depth as the mechanic went. It was a quick thing he mentioned as I left the shop tonight after an oil change.

But, do I go OEM or aftermarket, and why?

from bottom you get crank pulley, AC, water pump, altenator, tensioner pullley (this is the one i use the extension and socket on. you can buy a special tool for it), then idler pulley or power steering.

Im guessing the bearing is on the frits on your tensioner/idler pulleys. Ive never been a fan or aftermarket pulleys just becase they tend to fail quickly. OEM ftw imo

    Replacing Pulleys

I agree. Oem is the way to go. They are sized and weighted perfectly to run your accessories at optimal speeds.

If it's the idler and the tensioner they are both actually only held on by bolts. Meaning not pressed on...
