Reservoir socks add a nice touch of detail to your engine bay, and many times people use them to blend reservoirs in with the rest of the bay or to make them stand out. But what is the original concept behind reservoir socks?

Brake fluid is very damaging to painted surfaces, and also attacks vulcanized rubber when exposed to it. Spirited driving and racing can cause brake and power steering fluids to seep from their respective reservoirs. A simple, efficient solution is to use a reservoir sock. They will absorb and contain any seeping fluids while keeping your engine bay looking good. And they are cheap to switch out if you decide you don't like the look, or just need a new one from too much seepage. Don't forget to check your reservoirs once in a while to make sure you aren't low on fluid!
