Review: 4.0 Final Drive with TSX 6th Gear

My current setup is the custom 4.0 final drive that clubrsx sells and the TSX 6th gear package I also purchased from clubrsx. My setup is pretty extreme and is not for everyone. One of the only reasons this setup works for me is because I have a K24 supercharged which makes PLENTY of down low torque... if I had a turbo k20 this would never work.. it is just too low in RPM for HWY speeds.

Here are some mile per hour pictures for you. Yes I'm sorry my new cluster is in KMH but my laptop was up and on so I knew exactly how fast I was going!

At 65mph so Interstate speed, I was cruising at an amazing 2700rpms!

At Country speed, so 55mph I was at only 2200rpms!

I'm sorry this picture is super blurry! I had to watch the road and try to take this shot which was much harder than balancing the camera on my steering wheel... but it shows speed and RPMs in MPH for those who can't convert KMH

you can see at 61mph i was at 2476rpms :giggity:

As far as the drop from 5th gear to 6th gear it is pretty intense... I didn't take a photo but now that I think of it I will... it is almost a full 1k rpm difference between gears. I would guesstimate around 850-900 rpms different. So you definitely notice you are in 6th gear lol

This season is going to be great for gas mileage!

    Wow that's awesome, I wonder if that's doable for Si tranny's (06+)

I'm very late but I may have to get the 4.0 for my setup. I'd still leave the factory 6th in tho. I mainly want to stretch out 1-4 longer. I'd prefer to trap the 1/4 mile in 4th compared to 5th like I was. We'll see how my 4.3 works then go from there. But deff a nice review. I'm liking the gas mileage part. Lol

I could definitely use the lower 6th gear for cruising, I'm at 3k at 65mph.

yes, the tsx 6th is the same as the z3, a 4.0 is definitely doable, but unless you are 350+ its not worth doing imho

I've been looking at getting the TSX 6th for a while. Unless there are new numbers out, I should be around 3300 rpm @ 70mph, correct? I want lower rpm for both noise & fuel consumption & wouldn't mind the 4.0 final, but Spaz's setup is about 2000 rpm out of my boost range. lol.

I would love that for when I drive to Ga for School or Houston to see some family. I could cruise at 80mph and be at 2600rpm.
