Ever lost a loved one with four legs?

Anyone here a big animal lover? Ever loose a loved one?

Last night I got a call, my baby boy Mr. Bigglesworth isn't doing well. I rushed out of work straight to my vets office to find them doing tests and my cat lying motionless on the table covered in blankets. I've had my best friend for 16 years since he was a baby kitten that fit in the palm of your hand. My room was his room, he never left it as it was his comfort zone as he was a little runt of the litter and the other cats I have pick on him. So every morning, day and night he was with me. He's lay with me and play COD, cuddle up during movies, follow me around the room as I get ready ever morning.

As I get to the vets I immediately start questioning whats going on and break out into tears as my cat lies there motionless. Today was his time to pass. I picked my baby up and held him in my arms for half an hour and they said it's the most movement they'd seen since he's been there. Shortly after that he passed away peacefully in my arms.

The loss of my cat has really torn me up. He was my favorite little thing in the world. And all though he was an animal he was truly a family member. He was one of us... I know some of you aren't big animal lovers and you'll never understand, and some of you aren't cat fans but prefer dogs but you'll understand where I am coming from. All though they are only in our lives for a short time, we are in there's forever and they will forever be in ours even if not physically.

R.I.P Mr. Bigglesworth I will always love you and you will forever be in my heart.

I was never allowed to have pets growing up so I dont know how to feel with losing one. But I do understand that any loss of life is horrible especially since im sure Mr. Bigglesworth was part of your family. Sorry for what you went through

    Unhappy

I am a HUGE animal lover. I have 2 dogs, one is a rescue, she's 4 yr old, and another who is going to be 14 yr old this year. I can't even think about losing him, the thought just freaks me out. So sorry for your loss. If you do not own a pet you could never understand the love that you can have for these animals...
    My heart breaks for you.

Zack, it brings a tear to my eye reading this. To relate in some fashion, I've had cats as pets (on and off) since I was a baby. I'll never forget how I felt one specific time when I was younger: My father brought a little white kitten home from work one day. Fast forward, she ended up having a litter of four - three just like her, and one that was black. The black one grew up to have an astonishingly beautiful coat of all mixed grays. She was the runt; I called her Shadow. When I would come home from work, she would be waiting at the window and watch me walk up to the house until I was out of her sight. Then she'd run to, and sit by, the door, waiting for me to walk in. Her eyes always lit up when she saw me! She'd follow me around while I would get settled in; she would race me up the stairs to my room and jump on my bed like she hadn't seen me in years! We were best friends, she was the best buddy ever. Well, about a year later, the cats had to go. My parents wanted to redo the interior of our house, so the cats either had to get de-clawed or given away. Her sisters and brothers got new homes from friends/family, but no one a dark cat or her fluffy white mommy. I'll never forget how I cried and felt after we brought both her and her mother to the best animal shelter around. It was such a depressing, sad time that I could barely handle. I didn't have her for years, but it sure felt like it.

The inevitable happened, I now have an orange tabby named Scoot (Scooter). He's awesome! I scooped him up when he was 4 weeks old. He's 6 months old now, and quite a big boy. Best of luck in your recuperation, pal!

Sorry for your loss. I to know first hand the feeling of loosing your best friend. For me it was my old girl Denver. I got her for a grading present when I was in grade 8 in 1998. SHe was too my best friend and she did everything with me. While I was doing my military training she would stay with my mom and as soon as I would return she would be estatic to see me.

She was 12 years old when she died. ANd like you it happened at the vet but I am the one that had to give the word to put her down. And also I hold her death on my shoulders. She never ever once in 12 years rooted through the garbage but one night after cooking and disposing of a ham (Bones/Fat/left over meat) she got into it over night, and when I awoke the next morning I came down to 23 different piles of vomit on the floor and her laying almost motionless on the floor.

We rushed hwer to the vet where she stayed for 2 days on IV meds trying to recover. I was able t bring her home so we could spend the last night with her. We made a bed on the living room floor and that where all three of us slept until the next morning (where she wasnt doing any better) took her to the vet.

I dropped her back off at the vet in the am for treatment and I recieved a phone call in the afternoon saying I should get there as soon as I could. I left work and called my wife and she joined me as I had to make the heart breaking call to put her down. I loved that dog with all of my heart and I miss her all the time. She is still with us in an Urn on the mantle.

Typing this now brings back the bad memories and I am choking up as I type.

Sorry for stealing your thread but I just wanted to let you know that I know exactly how you feel and I am truely sorry for the loss of your best friend. Time does help, but time never cures the pain you have from loosing a friend.
