IMT 1.25 verses 2.25 Kool Boost Aftercooler or Charge Air Cooler kit

Why do we continue to offer 2 different size cores? Well, because bigger is not always better…

    1. First and foremost the 1.25 core works very well. It has proven itself to cool within 10 degrees of the core nearly twice its size (2.25)!

    2. Second not everyone can fit the 2.25 core. To fit the large core we use a 1” phenolic spacer. This results in moving the blower up 1”. What if you have a k24 swap? Well then your only option is the 1.25 in a Si or RSX. What if you have 2006+ Si? You must bend the A/C line over the blower nose for the 2.25 kit. If you don’t want to, then the 1.25 kit is for you. What if you have a 2012+ Si? The prop rod sits on the blower with the 2.25 core. Sure you can bend the rod, but if you don’t want to, then the 1.25 core is for you. The 1.25 core bolts on just like the stock CT plate. We have many customers that have been very happy with the 1.25 core, even ones that are road racing.

    3. Ever thought about pressure loss? The 1.25 core results in less pressure loss than the 2.25 core.

    4. The IMT Charge Air Cooler system is fully upgradable. Want to swap the core for the 2.25 core and 1” phenolic spacer because you are turning up the boost? Our well proven core/plate design has remained unchanged from the very first kit! Therefore all the kits continue to be upgradeable. The remaining parts, the pump/heat exchanger/reservoir are the same for both kits.
