D.I.Y Battery Box cover, battery under headlight rsx
Alright so my best friend Silkk came over and said Spaz I need you to build me a battery cover. His wheels and tires were just rubbing away at his fender liner and it was pretty much non-existent. Well this is bad as his battery was relocated to under the passenger side headlight just like mine was. Now he has an exposed battery to all the elements and with the tires right there they were kicking dirty water and debris at the battery cables and etc. So I said ok let me come up with something... and so I share with you what I came up with on the spot lol
I'm sorry the pictures kinda lack as I wasn't thinking about a full DIY but he took photos and enough you can get a legit idea of how to recreate me work if needed/wanted.
To start we bought a 2'x2' sheet of aluminum. Nothing fancy and I apologize I don't recall the thickness. But it wasn't so thin it was weak but wasn't thick enough you couldn't bend with ease.
Here is what I was working with

So I cut out his fender liner.. leaving the top part in, just cut from where it was rubbing...

So I started but folding an edge and then marking out where I need to trim to match the frame lines in the car

You can see in the upper left I made some stair shape cuts to match.

Safety first? lol I took off the shield to my cutting wheel lol but I wore glasses!

So I hold the shield up with the first bend to go around the battery. Now I'm measuring to see where I can bend up the bottom of the cover to wrap around the battery.

Here I make the fold

I then riveted the fold together

I then decide it's time to try to mount this so I can be more accurate. So I used two good self taping bolts to mount the shield

I also quickly test fit the bumper to see how it's looking

I drilled out two holes on the bottom to connect to the bottom bumper cover. You can see some of my measurements also

This is pretty much the finished work. I also just hand pulled the corner out to blend when installed and wrap around

Now instead of leaving it aluminum got some undercoating spray

*Also note on the top of the cage is a rubber hose I cut a slit down and glued to the top as a protector from some tucked lines he had above*

And now installed it looks kinda stock actually!

So now we've protected his battery from the elements and from thieves!
