As an update, I have been putting much thought into the project. In the mean time, the car will be brought back to a running condition and driven around for a bit. Once I get some more information and time together, I will see if the K-swap build is doable. I've been told ~6k by someone who has swapped K's into older VW's, and 30-50k (from the 79' hatch k-swap build, which was an entire resto.) So, I will see what's doable and what isn't. In the mean time, I'm getting a Weber carb, new radiator, new brakes and lines, and tires. Oh, and fender mirrors. I love fender mirrors! Other models had them, the '83 was too cool and has one driver's side window mounted mirror. Delete!
Fender mirrors ordered. Going to get this car back in running condition before deciding what to do. Radiator and brake lines this week. Carb hopefully as well. Last thing will be tires.
