So we decided that it would be better to weld everything verses weld some and mud some... so I spent the first part of the night trying to remove all the filler we had previously laid
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14164806.jpg
then cleaned so we could weld
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14164737.jpg
had a lot of troubles with the welder. I had to go get a new tank of gas an then had to go get new rod as I ran out of both... then we couldn't get the welder adjusted correctly at first so it was welding like crap. We eventually got everything smoothed out and it started welding smoother

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14200839.jpg
spent hours grinding lol
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14212832.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14212819.jpg
I know it looks rough... my back was hurting
and then welded up the other side after I cleaned out the filler

http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14212805.jpg
as she sits
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-14212850.jpg
Looks great. Make me want to learn how to weld.
So I spent around 5 hours today working on the damn car... man this is a lot of work... and I feel like I haven't even made a dent in it!
so here was where I started
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15123825.jpg
pain in the ass and no where done
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15142949.jpg
started griding and didn't like how it was looking
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15123835.jpg
so I, yes I, rewelded it.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15162704.jpg
also rewelded the bottom of this section
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163044.jpg
and added more filler to the side
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163121.jpg
then started focusing on the other side
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15143054.jpg
grinded down
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163222.jpg
started the sides
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15143107.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163211.jpg
and spent a lot of time here
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15143117.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163135.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-15163144.jpg
hard to tell but it's looking great IMO. Some filler will clean it up alot and smooth it out great!
So I took a break from the bay today and focused on my engine. I just wanted to seperate it from the trans and get it on a stand. I will start working on it from here now
So here is what I started with:
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22135838.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22135901.jpg
Then I started pulling off the supercharger, harness and misc
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22143124.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22143136.jpg
and to be safe started boxing up all my parts lying around
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22145748.jpg
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22145808.jpg
Busted the engine hoist back out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22151537.jpg
lifted her up so I could take the trans off
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22151952.jpg
then pulled the trans off
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22154459.jpg
threw it up on the stand
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22163127.jpg
and done
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-22163149.jpg
this engine bay with be the death of me... the more work I do the further I feel from done lol
So I had a crazy awesome idea... instead of playing Mechanic last night I decided to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and be a carpenter...
So I called up a buddy cause he said he would definitely be in for helping me and we went to home depot. We picked up some sheets of 3/4" MDF board.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26205545.jpg
Time to start our measurements. Right now you're wondering... what are we building?! lol It's simple!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26213019.jpg
So we made a couple of cuts with the circular saw and we were on our way. Then got out the sqaure, some drill bits, screws and wood glue.
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26215123.jpg
Not a bad start... lets keep going with this monster box!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26220905.jpg
Alright so what the hell is it already?! Well I have been spending a lot of time in the garage and nothing pisses me off more than my loud ass noisey air compressor going nuts while I grind and cut and etc. So I decided what if I built a large box around it to compress the sound and function as a new work counter! So...
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26222832.jpg
Now time to build a top
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26224309.jpg
damn this is a BIG box!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26225600.jpg
since the box is so strong and sturdy I'm gonna hook up my hose reel to it. So mark off my holes
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26234541.jpg
drill and attach!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-26235206.jpg
Box is pretty much finished... time to try it out!
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27002024.jpg
shit ya! And it's strong enough to place the welder on it and anything else I can throw at it lol
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27002629.jpg
I'm not fully finished but it was late 1 am when we were done to this point. I am going to fill up any cracks with filler and sand it smooth. I'm also going to do something special for the top so it's sealed and water proof for oil mess and etc. . . Also I'm gonna paint the box or something and then probably sticker bomb it! lol
Either way the most important part... I wish I would have taken a sound clip but OMG then compressor sound we eliminated GREATLY!!! I can won't have to wear ear plugs, I could still carry a conversation, and hear my music without being blasted like crazy! I'm so excited to work on the car tonight now!
That's awesome man. It's a great use if space bow especially when you seal it. You could even attach a piece of sheet metal to the top so you wouldn't have to use a wood sealer. And you could do that finish on I with a angle grinder. Just a thought.
redid my FPR again today while I'm finished up welding.
So I made a template
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27170054.jpg
cut it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27170349.jpg
smoothed it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27171631.jpg
drilled the holes
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27172036.jpg
test it out
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27172557.jpg
bolted it where I'm running it
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27172839.jpg
welded it quick
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27173335.jpg
and sanded it down
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-27175157.jpg
I'll clean it up more later when I get to this side. Phillip went to town starting the driver side and I must say HOT DAMN
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-28161318.jpg
it is so smooth and gonna look sick
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/a...1-28161337.jpg
