Might as well get it done. Why are you installing internals?
Fred, fawk, so when installing internals on the block what other type of things do u have to do? Until earlier today I thought it was as easy as opening the motor, throwing in the rods/pistons then putting the head back on  how much do. Think it'd cost if minus the pistons and rods?
Ksboi, cuz kid 400's gets old fast lol
Idk nothing for sure but I've been debating picking up a spare motor and building it for when this eventually blows.
Fresh best bet get a spare short block and build it so that way when you swap it no down time. Get ARP head studs and multi layer head gasket. I can make up a list of parts I got on my block. I had my k20a2 block bored from 86mm to 86.5mm with eagle rods and wiesco pistons. I went with 10.8:1 compression so its close to stock but its good enough the block can handle 700. You could sleeve it for extra protection but I can get it all. Maybe I can do a whole package deals. Oh also get someone to help on the main bearings! Its took the, 4 tries to get the correct bearings since two were different. Get all new gaskets, O rings man.
If you do pistons you should give a shop your block to be bored and honed and they should cut your rings too.
I wouldn't go more .5mm over on your cylinders.
if you're not doing valvetrain you still have to disassemble the head to have it decked. So might as well do valves and springs.
I paid $550 for labor on cylinders and head.
Sent using my Galaxy S3
Fred how do you like your galaxy s3? Z3 or a2 engine? The valvetrain on the z3 is fine unles you run different cams. I have read about skunk2 stage 2 cams tearing up the valvetrain.
would u be able to keep the stock bore or do u always have to go bigger? reason i ask is because ive seen too many problems with aftermarket headgaskets. i have a gtx30 so im hoping to maybe make 650ish on rods and pistons and e85. i really dont wanna have to spend more on a new turbo unless its needed. i saw a guy on 8th make mid 600s on a similar set up but he had a gt35. i know the 35 is bigger but it seems to have the same power as my turbo according to garretts website. (unless im reading it wrong?)
is that something u can just go do at any shop or is it something u have to spend a good amount of time researching reputations?
seems like a simple piston rod combo could run threw the roof fast :(
Oh no man piston/rod combos can go from 500-1300 depends on your HP goals. I used cometic HG great reputation man. You don't have to bore it at all. If the walls. Are fine just hit up machine shop and see what they say. I did mine because I got a stupid deal!
