holy shit BRAND NEW Evos! Nice find
Yeah, brand spankin new. The only downside is I bought regas to use on my car but these are new and I feel so bad just to mount tyres on and use them. Such a hard decision to make.
Sad lyfe.
I don't see pics, I see bandwidth problems?
I apologies for not fixing and updating this thread guys. I had no laptop for a while and trying to fix it on my iphone is just out of the question. I will definitely restore the old parts to this thread in a day or 2.
For now I'll update with these
Sorry for the lack of updates guys. Saving up for a holiday with the gf as a surprise. We have never left the country before so things are getting exciting.
I will do whatever to the car the following weeks on a low budget. Bushings, brake tuck, etc.
Been collecting wheels for a long time now and unfortunately decided to sell a few sets.
I let go 2 set of te37's a few nights ago, saddest night ever tbh. They are in good hands though.
Sold off a set of
16x8 +30
And another (staggered) set of
16x7.5/8 +30
I'm left with
6x 16x8 +15
Pretty much sold more than half of my te37 collection.

More goodies!

Finally found some time to take a proper look at the Spoon damper kit. I must say I am pretty happy with the product overall. Looks to be a very quality damper kit.
I had no intentions to ever move away from my Zeal function x but after browsing yahoo auctions I came across these. Brand new with no bid yet, after a few bids it finally came down to 140,000 yen (it was reserved at 140,000 yen so that was the minimum the buyer wanted). Surprisingly no one else bid and I ended up winning these for 140,000 yen. Retail for these from Spoon are 252,000 yen, I ended up saving around $1200 AUD with the current exchange rate.
I'll let the pictures do the talking as no one really wants to hear my crappy story.

I really need to point this out, they came with a screw driver to adjust damper and no spanners are included :thumbdwn:
Sorry for the poor quality pictures, they don't do any justice on how nice these are. inb4buyapropercamera.
Looks great, welcome back! Xray vision FTW! Its nice that you're doing something slecial with your gf, the other aspects of life are important as well. You're a family man! I look forward to more updates
Omg those coilovers are pure sex
Damn thats one helluva collection of te37's. And nice coilovers I've not been much into the jdm thing but I imagine they are like trying to find gold.

My panel beater missed a hole on the rad support so the car had to go back awhile ago.

Once back with the hole shaved and new paint, I removed all the suspension and arms to get them ready for new bushings. Planning on cleaning all the suspension parts on a warmer day before pressing in the new bushings. Thanks to David for giving me a hand and letting me use his impact gun, need one of those in my life.

New year resolution would be to get the car up and running. =]
Damn. At least things are looking up and moving forward! So what's left on the build?
Good stuff there.
Nice update! What's next?
I have a k20a2 long motor at the shop getting built but because it cost quite a bit for what I'm after, I will be picking up a Jdm K20a long motor to use for now this Sunday.
There isn't much left to buy for the car.
*brake tuck (chasebay)
*fuel lines (k-tuned)
*boost solenoid (hondata)
*vacuum box
*I have an exhaust already but just need to modify it to fit
*Lsd for the 5 speed dc5 box and "maybe" switch out the 4.3 fd for a 4.7 (not sure if the 5 speed 4.3 is too long or not)
the rest is just doing things like powder coating a few things, buying the smaller things to make it all work.
I'm aiming to have the motor in by the end of this month give or take a week.
Is the car going to be turbo'd?
Here are your speeds for you to look at.

The stock Jdm k20a will be boosted. I might throw in a new headgasket and arp head studs since I have a spare set.
With the current turbo I'll be using, I plan to run around 9-12psi. Hopefully that would be good for 350hp max.
The question is, do you guys reckon the gear ratio is too long with the 4.3fd?
Michael
Went to pick a Jdm K20a on sunday, the motor has been sitting there unused for awhile and has accumulated quite a bit of oxidation and is also covered well in dirt and dust. The good news is that it only has 37,xxxkm on it.
Got straight to business and started stripping it while we waited for a friends van to transport it back to my place.

Here comes the fun part... cleaning it and prepping it for a makeover.
What do you typically do for oxidation? As for your gearing question, PetefromtheStreets monjarassi Jaydee Spaz civicgrl89 are great people to chime in!
I posted the gearing up above in a previous post. Both with 4.7 and 4.3fd's it's really up to him to decide which he prefer.
My personal opinion is to run the 4.3fd. Standard 6speed gearing is too short. You hit boost shift, hit boost shift. Until you get to 4th.

I use a wire brush wheel on my compressor to remove the oxidization. Works great and depending how hard and much you do it can give it a semi polished look.
If you don't want that look I recommend using a scotch brite pad.
Thanks guys!
I just need to clean it to prep for paint.
As for gearing I'm leaning towards the 4.7fd mated to the dc5 box, almost identical gearing to a 5 speed ep3 box. I wont be aiming for a lot of power (350-380hp atw) and will be utilizing boost by gear and hondata traction control.
Today after work I put in a little elbow grease, cleaning this motor and masking it up in this heat was a mission dead set...
http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/IMG_1587.jpg
Anyways.... My temptation took the better of me and it was damn worth it in this heat.

I know right!
I am from Melbourne Australia.
It's peak summer right now and the temperature is a scorching 43 degrees Celsius today, That is 109 degrees for you guys.
Tomorrow is 44 degrees (111 degrees for you guys)
Australia day long weekend updates. Only just started a few things, hopefully I'll get it done by tomorrow evening.
Started shaving my RBC intake manifold.

Cleaned up some suspension parts to get it ready for new bushings.

Used a heavy duty foaming degreaser to break loose the heavy grease and dirt, worked wonders!
http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...ds/image-6.jpg
Now the elbow grease, a bit of dish washing detergent and straight to scrubbing it clean.
http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...ds/image-7.jpg
Borrowed a press off Mr spoon fanboy Billy. Got straight to testing it out but it soon got dark and had to call it a day.

Nice! Did you see Spaz's job on my intake manifold?
Yes, I saw the shaved intake manifold. Looked so good =]
Haven't updated this thread in awhile. Had a bit of free time this week to get a few things done and dusted off the things to do list.
I put on my Edelbrock 3 point tower brace to test fit and to see whether if I wanted to keep it the original black or go for something else. My friend Thanh mixed up a nice metallic black for me to use on my Advan rg's so I might consider doing my wheels, engine mount brackets and tower brace in the same metallic black.
Don't mind the amount of filth in the engine bay. I was waiting a few months for the paint to cure so that I could get started on sanding it back and polishing it up.....
http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/a...08/image-4.jpg
Sent off a few things to get sandblasted.

I plan on purchasing my brake line tuck kit and my brake booster delete next week through Chasebay with a few guys.
Good stiff
Love the updates keep them coming
After a hard decision on what engine enamel I should use I decided on the Dupli-Color.
Picked up a can of high heat grey primer and 2 cans of aluminum silver enamel. I had so many colour choices to choose from but decided on aluminum silver purely on the fact that it would always look nice in a white engine bay regardless.

I always wanted new trims for the exterior of the car and was pretty close to purchasing some new OEm ones. A friend of mine has used trim paint/dye and it turned out top notch. He has painted/dyed them over 2 years ago and has lasted nicely. The option was too easy on whether to buy new tirms or give this a go. I think everyone would agree on going the cost effective solution first as the trim dye was only $25.
