What I do is take pictures of an assembly just incase I forget. And I usually don't forget because I'm a hands on visual type so doing it once I'm good from there.

Good luck!
***UPDATE***
I am pulling my new transmission apart this weekend and sending the gears off next week to 300below to be treated.
Next week I'm putting my car on the trailer and taking it to my friends garage to try and fix the timing chain guide without pulling the motor. If that is successful I will be driving her again (with 4th gear broken) :-)
Then I will just be waiting on the gears to cone back and reassemble the new transmission and drive it to my boss's house to install the new transmission.
It should be done by the end if next February. ;)
***Race season upgrades***
15" Rota slipstreams with 24.5 slicks
My goal is to beat my time this year of 12.9s@120mph on street tires.
Pictures will be forthcoming

you should be able to replace the guides. its just going to take A LOT of patience with tools in some cramped areas. :) I hate removing that side cover, especially when i had hex bolts in it instead of 10mm
I found this video helpful and thought I would share.

What compression are your pistons?
Ok, they are CP pistons. I saw your part number in the OP, but when I search for these and look at them on their site, under the C/R with .040'' it says FT. Do you know what that means? For some of the pistons it gives a normal comp ratio. I'm just a bit confused. I want to purchase some pistons and rods here soon, a long with a short block to build in case mine goes. I would like to be in the 10.5:1 region as I do not really like the idea of going super low compression because I'm not building an all out race car. Given your experience would you suggest CP and do you like your comp ratio? Do you think CP pistons are better than JE, wiseco, etc? Also what do you think about rods?
Thanks!
