Nice I have a 5 gallon fcs fuel cell that I need to sell I bought it and have never used it 5 gallons is ok for a race car but on the street it won't last long enough so I ended up using my stock tank with a 255 feeding a surge tank so the engine never loses fuel under acceleration or on the big end of the track

haha I wanted to be sure I always have fuel the surge tank has 2 bosch 044s with the -10 feed it looks real good under the back of the car people definitely ask about it a lot only thing I don't like is those 044s are noisy bastards

I was actually about to go the surge rank route, but later on I wanna hit 9's so I figure do some track prep now instead of changing it later.

Well at least you went with the 9 gallon fuel cell as that's a lil better for the street .The 5 gallon cell I bought just wasn't gonna last me long enough and I didn't wanna deal with the hassle of stopping for gas all the time as my car is mainly for street use with the occasional track day .

e85 is gonna require more pump and more injector than the norm probably a pump in the tank and a pump inline like a 255 or walbro 400 or similar in the tank and a bosch 044 inline would be more than enough to do it .I'm one for over kill though

PetefromtheStreets
10-21-2013, 07:16 PM
My suggestions are in your quote..

Fuel type? Whatever is convenient wether it be E85 or 93pump.

how many Pumps? 1 pump should do it. Either a 340 or walboro 400

Size of fuel lines? Feed and return?
-8an feed should do you fine. Especially if it's the ballin k tuned rail that's dual feed. - 6 feed should be all you need.

What inline filter? Get a decent sized micron filter. I believe I have a 40 by Phoenix And just change em every so often to keep the injectors clear. They are cheap enough to do that.

Surge tank? If have yall one:

If your doing autoX or lots of full throttle turns yes. If not I wouldn't worry about. Surge tank.

The only thing I'll say is I have noticed under hard acceleration or hard deceleration the pumps tend to "lose" fuel this became real obvious with my old set up that had the 255 and the 044 as the 044 would scream when I was on the brakes at the big end of the track .I also use to lose fuel under hard acceleration if I were below 1/2 tank .I did the surge tank to be certain. Hell now I can make a full pull or mash the brakes at 140+ and never lose fuel but like Adam stated that set posted will probably work fine for you .

i removed the tar in the trunk and by the fuel pump, saved maybe 3 lbs of weight lol

ive been having good luck in the wiring though. Can't describe how much wire is able to come out and it adds up in weight! about to start working on the the floor harness to remove all srs and and seat wiring from it and see how much that adds up

Yea, its tedious but it's worth it for electrical simplicty. The fusbox wiring was easy, the dash harness was a pain. Its connectors are just completely a pain to de-pin and all the loom and gunk it has is just overkill lol im glad its done

Motor: stock long block k20a
Power: 621/403
Turbo: S366 ETT Twin Scroll T4 frame
Manifold: Blueridge Motorsports
Wastegate Size: Precision 46mm
BOV: Tial 50mm
Injector Manufacturer and Size: ID2000/255 Walbro intank and Inline 044 (-6)
Piping(including dowpipe and exhaust): 2.5in IC piping and 3.5in SS exhaust

All fab work, install, and tuning were done at ProFunction. Cannot thank Mikey, Pat, and their team for putting this together.

First power pull the car made 571/358 on 14psi. This graph shows the final numbers, I am happy with this but the car still has some left in it. Unfortunately the clutch was giving out so Mikey stopped.

It's a combination of everything from the manifold , the cams ,the turbo and the e 85 and the tune but 26 lbs is a fair amount of boost and 700+ doesnt seem unreasonable to me . Even more than that if you up the boost. C16 is some magical stuff. On my setup I think it could get me damn near 550whp, and I only make ~450 on pump 93.

So what do you guys think about the tsx throttle body? I picked one up a couple months ago for a good price with the idea I may use it on a built motor. Since my motor is going I'll likely be building that after winter and I'm wondering if you guys thinks its worth using? My charge piping will still be the same at 2.5". The motor build I have in mind is very basic, Manley I beam rods, JE 10.5:1-11:1 compression pistons likely at 86.5mm with stock cams and stock valve train. Power goal would be not that much more than before, if anything this build is more for reliability than anything.

I honestly don't see the point if your forcing the air into the TB, when producing boost after the TB like a roots blower its very important to not reducing incoming air. I don't think you will see any gains or difference in your turbo setup running a slightly larger TB.

Throttle body size on a turbo/rotrex setup is less crucial than a roots-type blower. That's why you made 550whp on the stock Si tb. A roots blower sucks air in, and is limited greatly by tb size. However, rotrex blowers/turbochargers are forcefully pushing air into the motor, forcing more fuel as well. Tb size is still important, but greatly different than a roots blower type situation.

Wow that looks really clean! I assume it's lower compression with those numbers? I would ask for a receipt, if he has one with those numbers on it that just helps back it up. Also I would turn over the motor via the crank pulley bolt, it's a 19mm, so take a socket and a wrench/breaker bar with you, it should turn over easily enough by hand even if the spark plugs are still in. I'm not sure there is too much else you can check out without taking it apart. As for trans I really am not sure there is much you can do without taking it apart. Sounds like a pretty decent trade though  Hopefully others can chime in and say I'm wrong and give you lots of things to look at! I would like to know as well because hopefully this weekend I will be checking out a z1 bottom end (all stock) to use temporarily while I get funds together for a motor build.

Coming up in a quick search that's what it said. varies to how many times you crank it over and wether out not the throttle body is closed or open.

I know, I broke it down a bit more to explain the way they work. Helps those learn who don't know why!

Im so jealous lol Ive worked for myself once a couple of years ago doing mobile car work, the hours were great but when 90% of my business was dealing with the people who just wanted to hear prices and not do anything, I had to get myself a 9 to 5 steady pay. But I do miss being your own boss

That was another reason why i got out of it, too much haggling and reducing prices. But as long as i was making some kind of profit i couldn't say no. But i never had to keep overhead so costs on my end were very low, pretty much gas and electrical accesories were my only bills having the business.

question for you guys, does anyone have any experience with staging brakes? im trying to draw out the line routing and connections but not sure on the proper procedure. i know one line goes to to PV and the other goes to the lines going to the brakes but since there are 2 lines for brakes and 2 lines to the PV do i just tee off everything? it would be a pass through style staging brake

In that thread he also states that when your not using the staging brake the brakes work off the pedal as normal.

A guy in Az went to Canada and got one that was imported and it meets the minimum 25yr old. So I contacted the Border Patrol and asked what I needed and it is very simple and cheaper to get one that was exported from Japan and is in Canada then to buy from Japan pay the shipping and then other fees and hope it makes it ok. I have seen cars shipped over to Germany when I was there and for some reason all windows are busted out and missing radios, spare tires, jacks. Plus I can actually fly to Canada and look at them before I buy.

Just a keep it tasteful. No 24s or anything like that. The one my father found has sbc 350 and th350 tranny and AC so I was planning on just possible paint, lower it and wheels. If the motor is crap then LSX or a guy in Tennesse had a few 640 ci big blocks putting out 800hp on pump gas mate that with those new 7spd automatic transmission I should get 26mpg on highway.

Heck our little K series engines can cost enough when ya build em right .I was talking to a very well know tuner recently about "All Motor" K series cars and was surprised at how much it can cost to build one like the ones ya see running 10's and I think now in the 9 s .I love when so called local Honda guys are like so and so is running faster than your boosted k and it's All Motor .What they don't seem to realize is just how much money those race teams spend on those All Motor engines and how often they are torn down .

Also those cars are not legal to run on the streets. They have custom suspensions and track bars, bare minimums to make the weight cut off Of 2160lbs. My car will probably weigh in at 2900-3k on Saturday. Your right mark these locals don't know what's all in those cars to make such things Happen. 380+whp all motor. That's just nuts. Oh and did they know those cars are coming across the traps with a/f's of 15:1 and rising?? Probably not lol.
