so anyone have any crazy winter plans?

I do! However, in order for me to move forward with the new drag car build, I need you all to help me think of a Projekt name!

Then we can go into motor chatter and you can all help me find great parts and deals on a used k-series setup ;)

Wow didn't even notice that at first look, that is odd that they have the TB over there! I wonder why? I also noticed there is no charge pipe connected to the turbo.

I assume because a dual-sided intercooler can be a PITA on K-series setups since the turbo and throttle body are usually on the same side, thus the reason for single-sided intercoolers. So, in an effort to have minimal plumping (and likely unable or chose not to use a center-feed intake manifold), that peraon decided to do a reverse-feed intake manifold. Smart idea IMO

O that's rite we need to come up with a name.

I am guessing so but I'm gonna fool with it on Monday again as I'm off work and hope to get it straightened out .I need to make a boost leak tester too so I can check for any boost leaks so a trip to Lowes is at hand .Gonna make the kind ya put on the turbo inlet with an air chuck like on an air tool and then you pressurize the system with a regulator inline .I should have already made one by now .I have seen one at IMW and a friend has one and when we used the one at IMW we quickly found a few boost leaks with it and I think it's something that should be checked often .

If it is hitting boost cut, your injector duty cycle will go to 0 right when it cuts, that's how the cut is done, so look for that in the log. For me using flashpro, boost cut usually is 'slow' to respond in that if the cut is set at 18 psi it will take like 18.5 psi or so to trip it, like it can't keep up completely. IDK if this happens to other people too, but my rev limit doesn't keep up either, like if I do a log for Vit to fuel cut, it will usually get almost as high as 8700 rpm before the fuel cut kicks in. I guess it wasn't designed for the revs to climb as quickly as they do with a turbo

If you guys have the same tables as we do, you can play with your temperature compensation table for boost control, like remove a a couple duty cycle values in the lower temperatures, the table in flashpro works via IAT sensor.

Also lmk what you get to do the boost leak tester, I tried to make one once and it didn't work out as well as I was hoping. I couldn't get a tight seal on the turbo inlet, because the pvc rubber cap I got for 4'' pipes is larger than the turbo 4'' inlet because a pvc pipe is thicker than the turbo inlet metal. Also my turbo has like a hole in its inlet, kind of like exhaust tips have holes for water drainage, but IDK why it's on my turbo.

Hell I might be off most of the week by looking at the forecast it is calling for rain the next 2 days and then it's Thanksgiving on Thursday .I thought it would be warmer if your in Houston.

Well sometimes it snows but not very often .I'm near the ocean so it often stays rain when storms hit or turns to it and we end up with not much accumulation .Every now and then it snows just not to often it gets cold enough though .It is forecast to be 55-60 here next week currently it's 36 lol I hate the cold weather .

same here, living in texas has corrupted my tolerance for the cold lol we get snow once every couple of years and even when it does snow its only a 1/8 of an inch

Well I made the boost leak tester I used all 3" stuff and it fits inside the 4" coupler I have on the front of my turbo perfectly .I will post a few pics shortly .I found 2 leaks right away .

http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/gg360/nextproject97/boostleaktester_zpsf5d77635.jpg

http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/gg360/nextproject97/leaktesterforturbo_zps63eb1d9e.jpg
Wow that makes much more sense to put it inside the coupler for the turbo inlet. I Guess you just had to tap the pvc cap for NPT?

vdubkilla
11-25-2013, 04:03 PM
I will be making a new thread later today .I just left Lowes and found a piece that makes the tester about 3" shorter and will be better for tighter engine bays .I ll list the individual components and how to put it together and use it .It's very simple set up and a great tool for anyone with a turbo car as boost leaks will cause all sorts of issues.

I just ordered two of these from Jegs http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/11063/10002/-1 About a week ago I found out one of my bosch 044 s wasnt running due to a faulty relay and I didn't know it .I'm gonna pull a wire from the hot sides of both pumps to these up front where I can see them one for each pump. That way I'll know both pumps have power all the time .

Thanks Adam and I also ordered a fuel pressure gauge that will be here on Friday it's an auto meter gauge that matches all of my current gauges and will mount inside the car rather than the one I have now that is mounted on the fpr thats not worth a damn to me when I'm driving the car as ya can't see under the hood.

hey guys not sure if dumb question or not, but is there a way to know (beforehand of purchasing) which wristpins will fit a rod? Ex. Im about to purchase some wiseco pistons with upgraded wrist pins however i was told that i need to verify that the wrist pins will work with the BC Rods... any input? Correction?

Wrist pins should be a standard diameter just the wall thickness is greater in the upgraded pins. I would call the rod company and piston company both and ask

Adam s right they should be fine/ standard size but I understand being careful and calling the company as I'm always a double checker . I have found it best to "check it twice build it once" I also did upgraded pins for a little added insurance

It has turned to rain here and thats fine with me I hate the snow unless it's a considerable amount like 8-10 + and that seldom ever happens here :(

Ya I hate snow too. It's fine if it's at the mountains, but I got shit to do today lol. And I need to work, and that will either get canceled or suck because of the snow.

Yeah trust me it really messes up my work lol Well I am gonna go get a battery for my truck as it's gonna be 6 years old and I don't want it to leave me .It hasn't given me any issues as of yet but it's only a matter of time before it does so I'm gonna go do that and maybe go grab a burger on this crappy day .

Morning homies! Installed a new battery yesterday, upgraded from the Everlast battery from Walmart. Man, those are a great bang for your buck. But I upgraded this time around. I've been seeing all these battery commercials about how Duracell batteries are greatly reliable and used in the medical field for their reliability. Well, I like reliability, so I got this new Panasonic Duracell battery.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/09/e8evytyp.jpg

Thing looks cool, and it's sealed so you can mount it any way you'd like. Despite the urge to mount this upside down, I mounted it normally in it's new home.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/10/eqebuze2.jpg

Downside was the terminals were reverse polarity but in the exact same spot as my last battery. ASSuming they were the same (because I had no reason not to, my last 2 batteries were all different companies but the same terminal polarities), I connected it and blew my main fuse. THANK GOD for main fuses.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/10/huny8uma.jpg

And that's my weekend. Oh, I also did most of the lights on my house but they're not finished yet.
