Many of us go through tragic events in life, and family are the closest people to you during those events. They make you smile, laugh, and forget about the bad. I want to thank my 8thcivic family for wishing me the best and a speedy recovery since my accident in April of 2010.

Also, my turbo build is dedicated to a fallen 8thcivic member, Tobie Cook (sh33t 0f p4p3r).

RIP Tobie - You're always in our thoughts and prayers  :bighug:

Thank you to Supa Ninja (Neener), Soxfan143(Mike), BlueSi4(Oriol), and anyone else who has helped me get to where I am now. I know the tons of questions weren't easy, lol. :grouphug:

:rotfl: And no we didn't race, but it would have went my way because he has absolutely no traction 1-4. I would somewhat hook in 3rd and hook in 4th (both of us were on stock wheels and 215 tires). Now I have 245's and hook in 3-6 and mostly 1-2. BBG FTW!

Si Speed 317

I'm not sure, the shop supplied them. It's all based off the banjo bolts you have for your turbo. Take your banjo bolts to your local autozone and they'll tell you what size hose you need

Yea, I'm very power hungry. They have all the parts, they'll be starting on it Monday. Hopefully should have it the following week. I really can't wait to update my thread with pics of how my car will look when I get it back.

Si Speed 317

Well, since my car is in the shop, I decided I needed to do some shopping around. I'll be getting a custom tubular top mount manifold and downpipe, and most likely a GT3076R as the snail :thumb: Hope everything goes well, it'll be a pretty penny.

Needless to say, my current TSI manifold/GT2871R/downpipe/testpipe will be up for sale.

Yup :wiggle: They have to paint almost all of the car except the fender and roof, so I asked them if we could change the color and they said yea what the hell, it's only 2 more panels lol. Plus, Honda paint absolutely SUCKS. If there's one thing I absolutely hate, it's that Honda has crummy paint. My wheels are going to be pretty fkn dope too :spaz: I'm ridiculously excited

Si Speed 317
04-21-2011, 12:47 PM
He owns a body shop, so it worked out that way. Wait until my car's out, I'll show before and after pictures, then it'll be simply perfection. I CAN NOT WAIT!

Spoolin_VTEC
04-21-2011, 02:42 PM
Seems like you're cars going to come out with some surprises. Smart idea to shave the rear completely, not many people do that because of the wholes. Car's looking a little high in the rear though, still on the stands? And that manifold looks SICK. I wonder why more companies don't make top-mount manifolds..

Si Speed 317
04-26-2011, 11:16 AM
^ I hoped for some surprises, but things always seem to shit out on me. Just spoke to my friend who has my car at his shop, not exactly happy. Car will be sprayed at the end of the day, should be finished by tomorrow. The argument is that the entire car has to be resprayed, except the roof. He made the point of "since almost everything has to be repainted, we might as well paint everything over." So I agreed. I also asked if we could paint it Infiniti black since it's black anyway. He said it's no problem. They replaced the quarter panel that needed to be replaced, new side skirts since the old ones were busted, and need to repaint one panel past what needs to be repaired for blending. So it goes like this: new front bumper, pass. fender, door, quarter panel. They need to respray the drivers side fender, trunk/spoiler, and drivers side quarter panel. I asked them to respray the lip of the drivers side quarter because the paint cracked while I was rolling it. They decided to smooth out and paint the entire driver's side quarter, which means the door now needs to be repainted/blended. So, everything but the roof needs to be repainted. Turns out the new front bumper needs the main grill and two lower side grills, they want me to pay that out of pocket.

My problem with this is, although you cannot mix friendship and business, they received almost an $8,000 check from the insurance company to do the work to my car, and are asking me to pay money out of pocket when today is exactly one month they've had the car and it's still not done. I've been paying for my rental car since yesterday out of pocket ($30 a day) and will return it tomorrow. I also pay almost $4 a day in sales tax out of pocket, so $120 comes out of my pocket aside from the $90 for 3 days of the rental. I'm pissed. [/vent]

Sorry for not getting back to you guys, haven't checked my own build thread in a while. I'm too excited about everyone elses! :rotfl:

Here's an update:
I've been boost creeping like a mad man. 4th gear, on only wastegate, runs perfect until 7500rpm - then it creeps 13psi to 19psi! So boost cut is set at 16psi until this issue is fixed. So, it's winter and we all do work, so here's my simplest solution for fixing this creepy creep issue. Oh, and I decided to become mathematical.

My current setup is a bish of a creeper, and there is literally no room for another wastegate, and I really don't want to have to take the downpipe off to make a larger wastegate port etc, so I bought a 38mm-to-44mm wastegate adapter (cnc'd from solid billet steel) from treadstone for $42:

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/219/38to44adapter.jpg

I figured this was the simplest, easiest, and cheapest fix, and will, at least, help reduce boost creep. Comma crazy! Anyway, using the cir***ference formula (C = pi x d), I found that a 38mm wastegate has a circ. of 119.32mm and a 44mm wastegate has a circ. of 138.16mm. Using the area formula (A = pi x r˛), a 38mm wastegate has an area of 1133.54mm˛ and a 44mm wastegate has an area of 1519.76mm˛. That's an area increase of 386.22mm˛, which is a 34% increase. I decided to see what this would look like, to the best of my ability:

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/1715/wg1m.jpg

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/4605/wg2vm.jpg

Will that help a lot? Seems like it should do a good bit. But, having a long dumptube won't help, the shorter the better in this case. So, I'll be making a custom dumptube from the 44mm wastegate that dumps straight to the ground. The only thing hold me back in this setup is the wastegate port that leads to the wastegate - it's rather small. But, this is my attempt to fix this issue. Worse case scenario - if this isn't a good enough fix, I'll have to just change the wastegate port to a 44mm. We'll see what happens.

If anyone has any comments/questions/concerns, post em up!

I had similar issues with my 35r on a Full Race T4 ts manifold with twin 44 mm Tial gates . I am assuming you have checked the waste gate diaphragm and checked for any leaks in any of the vac lines or at any connections at couplers ect.... I had a few leaks in my synapse engineering push locks . I actually found 5 leaks by using a tools I have for testing outboard motor lower units to find leaks it allowed me to both pressurize and apply vacuum to my vacuum block up to 30 psi either way and by spraying soapy water at connections I found my leaks easily .I called synapse they sent me new fittings .It didn't totally stop the creep but its very minimal now and the car stopped hitting boost cut in 4 th .

Spoolin_VTEC
11-28-2011, 10:12 PM
^ Damn, that's one reason I wouldn't run push-locks. But Si Speed 317's gate setup is a divorced flange from the turbo. Oddest setup I've ever seen, and definitely a creeper with a 38mm gate. 44 should definitely relieve some creep, hopefully a lot.

Hey guys, quick update. Car got hit two weeks ago again, some lady backed into it while I was at work. Not too bad, just my driver's side door, mirror, fender, and rim. Car is currently in the shop getting fixed; I was given a rental car to drive. Here's where the update turns bad: on Sunday, 12/18/11, I was involved in a bad car accident. I was making a turn during a yellow light, and someone in opposite traffic switched lanes and sped up to make the light - and drove straight into me (going ~55 in a 35) and sent me straight into a pole. I broke my left femur and two vertebrae in my neck, aside from some misc cuts and bruises. My girlfriend was in the car with me but she only sustained minor cuts and bruises. Long story short: I was in the hospital for 10 days, had surgery on my leg, I now have a titanium rod throughout my femur, and need to wear a neck brace for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully, after tons of physical therapy, I'll be able to get back to normal in 3 months. Things could definitely be worse.

Update on my car: Once she's out of the body shop, again, I'll be installing my stage 4 clutch, stainless clutch line, 44mm wastegate, and dumptube. I'll keep everyone up to date!

Thanks bro, I appreciate the help! Sorry I just saw this.

On a more positive note, I plan on going to as many car shows as possible and get some legit trophies to bring back! In doing so, I need to not only get to cleaning up and tidying my engine bay (cleaning with Simple Green I've heard is great, I need to figure out how to tuck my injector wires, etc.) but I need to check out the tricks of the trade. I've seen people use mirrors by their wheels on the floor for some added bling/attention, but I'm looking for some other good stuff. I figured Spaz would definitely be one to know. If you guys can chime in, I would really appreciate it.

I have never entered an actual car show, so I don't even know where to look to find them in my area. Any and all info is definitely appreciated!

AxelTaylor
01-11-2012, 06:11 PM
Depends on what class you are entering, most guys around here that win import car show trophies in best of class, etc have a wheel off showing their BBK, window's down showing interior mods, nicely polished up engine bay, and some sort of plaque with list of major modifications on the window. (Kinda gay if you ask me) BUT that's what it seems to take around here.

For the injector wires, run the harness up through the middle of the RBC then split off to each injector, easy way to tuck it a little bit.

Hope I helped a bit, your car is sick!

HUGE shout out to Str8JDM for installing my CC Stage 4 clutch, OEM flywheel, and wastegate. Without you, I would be screwed! Since I've been recovering from surgery from the accident, I've been doing a lot of thinking and planning for my Si, not to mention my entire life. I don't have much left to do with my car for my plans this spring. As of right now, I have to install my new intercooler, install my EM1 CMC, adjust my stance, possibly change my front tires to dunlop star specs, and finish tuning (which stopped due to my slipping stock clutch). Then it's all car shows all summer!

Just bought some 5-ply reducer couplers for my new intercooler install, 3" to 2.25" reducer couplers, one straight and one with a 45* bend to make up for the angle of the inlet on the intercooler.

http://i43.tinypic.com/23tn44.jpg

Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to do the install. What's the best tool to cut the bumper beam with, a Sawzall? I'm going to have to do some minor hacking.

I'm running GReddy charge piping, which fluctuates between 2.25" and 2.5" so that's what I'm stuck with. It's not worth the additional price of running full 2.5" piping just yet, plus I got the whole charge pipe set used for $80. Can't go wrong.

I haven't updated this is quite a while. Car is running well, had the shifter cables replaced and some other misc stuff. Damn that's a lot of creep. Srt should fix the way it's designed for that. That's pretty crazy.
Yea man, actually this is the only manifold setup from them like this in the world. It came from 07civicmd, fastest/most powerful Si in the world at the time.

As an update, I've been doing a few things to ****e up the car a bit. Moved the battery to the trunk, and did a few other small things. I'm revamping the engine bay, shooting for the show at Honda Day in August. Any suggestions on how to tuck the wires that sit in that plastic piece above the oem fuel rail?

Here's a recent pic in the mean time:

I'm planning to show on Honda Day, just getting some stuff all finished up. Not too sure what there is left to do though to make things stand out, but we'll see how things go. I might post up in the VIP section to see what others say, that way it's a secret to everyone till they see it. Nothing crazy or not done before, just a "make-over".

The one thing I've been trying to figure out is if I have to be there both saturday and sunday or can I just go saturday? I'm hoping to bring home some hardware from the show.

i want to do either a;bins option 1 with tsx 5th, stock 6th, stock fd. or a ppg gear set with a tsx 5th stock 6th and a 4.3 fd. also doing a dual pumps , feed and return line tuned on e47(93/e85 blend). thta is next summer tho. just hoping that the tranny hold up that long. i also turned boost back to 5psi in 1/2 and 9psi in 3/4. so proly only aorund 375-380. your on stock tranny still?? how many miles of boost and any issues yet?

Sounds like both good options, but get TSX 6th. Yup, I'm still on the stock tranny :knockonwood: probably 15k miles boosted, and nope none yet! Honda ATF + 1/2 bottle of Dodge LSD additive.

Vit recommends the PPG gears with your choice of FD (depends on your power level) plus a tsx 5th gear and an rsx 6th gear.

Update:

Need to do some maintenance-related things next week, such as two new pulleys, new alternator, and possibly belt tensioner. Getting a weird, loud humming noise from the front/passenger side of the car. Seems to be coming more from under the car but thats what the shop said. Good friend, so i will trust his judgement. Anyone know how I can personally diagnose if its the alternator or the tensioner?

Ive also been spending my little extra time on the Ruckus. Love that little thing. Lots of mods going in over the winter, including 12" extension, 10x8" fatty rear wheel, intake/exhaust/jetting, paint, and more. Just lowered the seat frame, feels amazing. It'll be lower with the stretch too. Update pic:

sweet build dude. Looks amazing. nice work. I know this is a random question. The gt30 is obviously ball bearing, where did you tap for coolant feed for the turbo?

Thanks man, I used the throttle body coolant lines. I just made the turbo come off of the coolant return. Sonit goes into the TB, out of the TB, to the turbo, to the block (iirc it goes to the block, or whenever the TB normally feeds back).
