Just to clear things up here at boostedk20, I copied and pasted from k20a.org so things might seem a little confusing when reading.

Here's a quick story in dot point form to make it more clear lols.

*old car Jdm dc2r 98 spec (bad chassis)
*stripped and sold it in parts
*new car dc2r + jdm front + k20a3 with jdm k20a internals and buddyclub head
*swapped in a k24a3 because wanted more torque
*added cams and valvetrain

*finally! I sold everything off and now rebuiding. K20a2 + turbo

Nice update, don't worry. The R will be up and running soon enough! Keep us updated with the new stuff! What motor details are you doing?

mnc1408
04-09-2013, 11:59 AM
Motor will just be a basic rebuild.

Oem pistons and rods.
OEM/Clevite bearings,
ARP custom age 625+ rod bolts,
ARP head studs,
Balanced crank.

The head will be stock unless I sell off a few unwanted things to fund some supertech valvetrain kit and a nice set of prayoonto or kelford cams.

Still deciding with motor. The current oem pistons are ruined so I think I might just buy some forgies (pistons + rods)

Clueless on what to get though. What are your thoughts?

JE 10:1 86.5mm
and for rods I'm not sure what's good on the market. Carillo, Cunningham, Manley? H beam for FI wise?

Looking to make around the 350-400hp comfortably. Any expert opinions out there?

I'm looking into building my motor right now as well. I will probably go with JE pistons, either 10:1 or custom ordered 10.5:1 if they will do that (I think they will). As for rods, any quality h-beam rod will hold that kind of power. Eagle, Manley, etc. I wouldn't spend the money on carillo or manley I beams for your goals. I'm probably going to go with the new skunk2 alpha series h beam rods.

mnc1408
06-19-2013, 08:44 AM
Thanks for the input, much appreciated =]

I do reckon the manley I beams are expensive. That extra money over the other brand H beams rods can buy me bearings I guess.

Ya I think you'll be fine with any good h beam rod for your goals. And for bearings I'd go with OEM as well, after a little reading, that seems to be the general consensus, and I like to stay OEM whenever possible, the quality is just better.

I apologies for not fixing and updating this thread guys. I had no laptop for a while and trying to fix it on my iphone is just out of the question. I will definitely restore the old parts to this thread in a day or 2.

For now I'll update with these

Sorry for the lack of updates guys. Saving up for a holiday with the gf as a surprise. We have never left the country before so things are getting exciting.

I will do whatever to the car the following weeks on a low budget. Bushings, brake tuck, etc.

Been collecting wheels for a long time now and unfortunately decided to sell a few sets.

I let go 2 set of te37's a few nights ago, saddest night ever tbh. They are in good hands though.

Sold off a set of
16x8 +30
And another (staggered) set of
16x7.5/8 +30

I'm left with
6x 16x8 +15

Pretty much sold more than half of my te37 collection.

Finally found some time to take a proper look at the Spoon damper kit. I must say I am pretty happy with the product overall. Looks to be a very quality damper kit.

I had no intentions to ever move away from my Zeal function x but after browsing yahoo auctions I came across these. Brand new with no bid yet, after a few bids it finally came down to 140,000 yen (it was reserved at 140,000 yen so that was the minimum the buyer wanted). Surprisingly no one else bid and I ended up winning these for 140,000 yen. Retail for these from Spoon are 252,000 yen, I ended up saving around $1200 AUD with the current exchange rate.

I'll let the pictures do the talking as no one really wants to hear my crappy story.

Once back with the hole shaved and new paint, I removed all the suspension and arms to get them ready for new bushings. Planning on cleaning all the suspension parts on a warmer day before pressing in the new bushings. Thanks to David for giving me a hand and letting me use his impact gun, need one of those in my life.

I have a k20a2 long motor at the shop getting built but because it cost quite a bit for what I'm after, I will be picking up a Jdm K20a long motor to use for now this Sunday.

There isn't much left to buy for the car.

*brake tuck (chasebay)
*fuel lines (k-tuned)
*boost solenoid (hondata)
*vacuum box
*I have an exhaust already but just need to modify it to fit
*Lsd for the 5 speed dc5 box and "maybe" switch out the 4.3 fd for a 4.7 (not sure if the 5 speed 4.3 is too long or not)

the rest is just doing things like powder coating a few things, buying the smaller things to make it all work.

I'm aiming to have the motor in by the end of this month give or take a week.

The stock Jdm k20a will be boosted. I might throw in a new headgasket and arp head studs since I have a spare set.

With the current turbo I'll be using, I plan to run around 9-12psi. Hopefully that would be good for 350hp max.

The question is, do you guys reckon the gear ratio is too long with the 4.3fd?

Went to pick a Jdm K20a on sunday, the motor has been sitting there unused for awhile and has accumulated quite a bit of oxidation and is also covered well in dirt and dust. The good news is that it only has 37,xxxkm on it.

Got straight to business and started stripping it while we waited for a friends van to transport it back to my place.

I posted the gearing up above in a previous post. Both with 4.7 and 4.3fd's it's really up to him to decide which he prefer.

My personal opinion is to run the 4.3fd. Standard 6speed gearing is too short. You hit boost shift, hit boost shift. Until you get to 4th.

I use a wire brush wheel on my compressor to remove the oxidization. Works great and depending how hard and much you do it can give it a semi polished look.

If you don't want that look I recommend using a scotch brite pad.

Thanks guys!

I just need to clean it to prep for paint.

As for gearing I'm leaning towards the 4.7fd mated to the dc5 box, almost identical gearing to a 5 speed ep3 box. I wont be aiming for a lot of power (350-380hp atw) and will be utilizing boost by gear and hondata traction control.

It's real serious heat wise. The concrete is so hot my dog cries when he steps on it. You know what's funny? It rained a little today and a few part of the area near me are having severe storms. Melbourne = 4 seasons in 1 day

Holy shit!! Thats insane!!! I remember running on the blacktop as a kid after getting out of my pool in the summer, you would see the water turn into steam - then my feet would burn. BURN! Lol

Australia day long weekend updates. Only just started a few things, hopefully I'll get it done by tomorrow evening.

Started shaving my RBC intake manifold.

Yes, I saw the shaved intake manifold. Looked so good =]

Haven't updated this thread in awhile. Had a bit of free time this week to get a few things done and dusted off the things to do list.

I put on my Edelbrock 3 point tower brace to test fit and to see whether if I wanted to keep it the original black or go for something else. My friend Thanh mixed up a nice metallic black for me to use on my Advan rg's so I might consider doing my wheels, engine mount brackets and tower brace in the same metallic black.

Don't mind the amount of filth in the engine bay. I was waiting a few months for the paint to cure so that I could get started on sanding it back and polishing it up.....

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/image-4.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/image-4.jpg.html)

Sent off a few things to get sandblasted.

After a hard decision on what engine enamel I should use I decided on the Dupli-Color.

Picked up a can of high heat grey primer and 2 cans of aluminum silver enamel. I had so many colour choices to choose from but decided on aluminum silver purely on the fact that it would always look nice in a white engine bay regardless.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_2053.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_2053.jpg.html)

I always wanted new trims for the exterior of the car and was pretty close to purchasing some new OEm ones. A friend of mine has used trim paint/dye and it turned out top notch. He has painted/dyed them over 2 years ago and has lasted nicely. The option was too easy on whether to buy new tirms or give this a go. I think everyone would agree on going the cost effective solution first as the trim dye was only $25.

Got my sandblasted parts back all nice and coated thanks to Mr Thanh. Quite pleasantly surprised how amazing it turned out.

Engine mounts, tower brace and brackets are coated a nice metallic black (same colour as what my wheels are going to be) and the rocker cover is a nice vibrant and strong metallic blue.

I put the parts together including 1 of the cooler piping to see how the colours go against each other and wow! can't wait until its all mocked up in the engine bay.

I'll be ordering the rest of my fuel lines and fittings from k-tuned. This will be my very last order as I want everything in the engine bay and have an idea on how I want to route the lines.

I'll be using -8an for in and -6an for return.

I really am trying to do as much work as I can to the car. But working full time and also just bought a house is rough on free time. So many awesome meets and track days have gone by. It's making me a little upset haha.

I'm still shaving the RBC, when I look at your work shaving it I keep thinking "how the hell does he do it that good" maybe I'm just limited to tools? I'm Using a drill with a sanding flap disk attachment and a Dremel with cutting discs and grinding stones.

It's a shame I live in Australia and will never get to see any of your cars in person. They have really inspired and motivated me. Especially how much effort and time that has gone into each and every of your cars.

Next on the list is to put the suspension back on the car, brake tuck, motor in + a few misc so I can tow it all at once to my new home.

Thanks for following my build guys. Appreciated.

Michael.

I have a habit of only working on my car at night time. It's just before midnight and I'm outside ratcheting, wire brushing, prepping and painting. My family and friends call me stupid and crazy.

Well tonight I prepped and painted my motor. Started by hitting it with a power drill attached with a wirebrush.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_4653.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_4653.jpg.html)

Took me a good few hours to get it to a raw finish. I removed a few things to really get into the smaller gaps.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_4654.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_4654.jpg.html)

I taped up all the sections I didn't want to get painted and plugged up all the bolt holes with tape, no one wants a bolt that can't be put back in later. Don't mind the rocker cover, that will get sand blasted and coated another awesome colour.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_4658.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_4658.jpg.html)

The tape I used is pretty decent. Loving the name and packaging also haha.

Once everything was wire brushed and all the dirt, grease and grime are off, I wiped down the whole motor a further time. Good preparation will lead to better end results period. I did 3 coats of primer and allowed 10 minutes in between each coat. Coat 1 and 2 are light followed by a medium 3rd. This is the 2nd coat drying.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_4661.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_4661.jpg.html)

3rd and final coat just dried and is safe to handle. It takes a week for the primer to fully cure though.

Ty ryaano18, to be honest I lost interest in the car for the last year and what got me back into it was recently in Australia, a whole bunch of Hondas were built and finished which made me really miss my passion. Also so many car events and track days I have missed.

As for the RBC, it's my first time and it is really big of a job to do. I'm probably not even using the correct tools to begin with.

I also had the chance to paint the motor today. Decent weather + the aid of a cardboard box booth powered by a heat gun did a wonderful job at baking it haha. More work done on the motor tonight. I feel so hooked working on the car at the moment and need this to last untill the day I turn the key. inb4snorlax.

Cleaned the head up of the oil stains a tad, because slightly ocd. I then brushed it with fresh oil to keep it lubricated.

Not much of an update tonight just got my compressor housing back freshly powder coated by Thanh, It's the same colour as my intercooler pipings. It took a further hour to sand back the edges I couldn't tape and to removed all the sticky residue left over by the tape. I then sanded it down with 800,1200 and 2000 grit wet sand paper, still needs to be polished.

I put back on the compressor housing o ring, greased it a tad to help prolong the o ring life and also to help it seal nicely.

Quick question my boosted pals.

How/where do I run the oil feed line?

Do I buy a sand which plate and go off a port from there?
Is there a specific brand that makes good sandwich plates?

Or

Can I run it from the stock oem oil pressure sensor port?

All the right fittings. (BSPT<NPT, NPT<BSPT, & a 1/8" Tee)

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n284/snp81/DSCN0665.jpg

One is a 1/8" BSTP to NPT, the other is NPT to BSTP.
Our stock sender has BSPT (British Std. Pipe Thread) while most gauges are NPT (National Pipe Thread), so we need a male BSPT with a Female NPT to screw into the block. And also a Male NPT with a Female BSPT to screw the stock sender into the Tee fitting.

I have a coupler type fitting to adapt to the BSPT to NPT and then an NPT T is there, and an adaptor fitting to go from NPT to AN for the feed line.

Martin, looking at yours where does the turbo feel line come from? It looks like the end of the T is the pressure gauge, and the middle part of the T is the stock sensor, no?

It feels like I am so close to the finish line but all the little things I want to do all add up. The downside now is that I need to respray my engine bay again, found some small bubbles of rust on the shock tower.
I should have just did the prep job from the beginning to be honest, I really hate these problems creeping up on me by surprise like this.

Thanks bro.

I have done a few engine swaps. This time round I went for the clean tucked and semi shaved look.

I respect for all those who have a clean setup, it's a bloody big job.

that's how I routed my feed too.

I think that's the best way to route it unless you made your own line. The other ways I tried had too much slack left in the line.

I miss him already. Anyways after searching up on fittings etc for the oil feed, I ended up having one in the turbo kit I bought from JDL. So much win right now.

Thank you so much, first time doing this clean and tucked bay, also not to mention first boosted build ever. Huge learning curve for me.

I kindly wish to thank the community at boostedk20 for all the help they have given me in regards to my questions asked.

Got my Hardrace bushings pressed in by the boys at ZEDS. I will be giving these arms a good clean up before it goes back together with the car. I will also be applying some paint to the bushings metal surface as they are known to rust.

Tracking tells you all the information. If the package has your contact number on it they will call you haha, if not they mail you a letter.

From there it gets messy. They wanted me to provide full receipt or payment invoice to prove that it is worth only $1000 USD. They told me they checked the website and prices doesn't match. I had a couple of days before responding and this is what I told them.

I told them that JHPUSA was sponsoring my car for race events. So they gave me huge discounts. I got Jeff at JHP to rewrite the invoice aswell.

Lucky escape, would of been real annoying if the package got sent back.

Went over to my mums house to check up on the motor after that horrible windy event we had in Melbourne not long ago. Threw on the k-tuned breather while I was at it.

I probably won't be using this rocker cover though. Next rocker cover I'll be shaving the OEM breather port and will be welding on a single -16an fitting preferably to the back near the firewall for my custom catch can setup

Ya oil line looks much better now that you've directed it away from the exhaust manifold. If it were to touch that while running for any length of time the line would be ruined.

They are quality hardware. Real good stuff. Only real flaw I see on the basic bolts are the normal washers. They have play so when you tighten them make sure the washers are centred. If you have beauty washers they fit 100%

I'm missing a few things from them and might consider ordering some more haha.

Thanks for the positive comment champ.

Ya you want that oil return as straight and 'downhill' as possible, especially if it's a journal bearing turbo.

Well lucky it's a ball bearing so that's 1 tick.

I should have gotten the return bung welded closer, what was I thinking lols.

What if I swap the fittings around? I was worried the straight fitting might have clearance issues with the gearbox.

Water pump came out legit.

Rbc is gettting there

Water pump housing came out pretty good but I will need a new water pump though. Rbc is a lot of work, Probably wont ever attempt another shave and smoothed out for a nice curved surface.

I need to remove the factory pulley on the alternator and swap it over to the k-tuned extended one. Reason being is that the factory pulley doesn't align up with all the other pulleys after installing the AC/PS delete kit.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/IMG_6342.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/IMG_6342.jpg.html)

I've decided to delete the heater as I have clearance issues with the Wastegate being in the way. So the Oem factory thermostat housing can go in the bin.

Test fitted the colour coded alternator and it is looking a lot better than before. I will need to change that water pump, it has seen better days once upon a time ago and doesn't spin smoothly anymore.

Removing the pulley on the alternator was quite hard but with a little bit of improvisation, it finally came off. You can also see how the pulley is extended so that it lines up with the crank pulley.

It comes with the kit. Not sure if you can buy it separately. I'll be using am oem belt driven water pump, electric is too baller haha.

Got the car back to a rolling status ready to tow from my parents house to mine.

I put in a temporarily steering rack as the other one is torn apart for a rebuild.

Waiting patiently for the tow truck to arrive.

That same morning my next door neighbors house caught on fire. A total of 4 firebrigrade, 2 police cars and an ambulance arrived on scene within minutes. Without the fast response time, the house would of burnt to the ground no doubt. It almost took out my daily car during the blaze. Sorry for the Poor images, had no good shots.

I tried sneaking in a shot from my backyard/driveway but it was hard without them seeing. This picture only illustrate 1/4 of the damage and the side had a rav4, 2 motorbikes and a bunch of tools and out door furniture.

This is the reason why I am so frustrated with the spray job. Can't wait for Paint Fresh Auto to redo the bay. If this little bubble patch rised up from the dead, how long until more rise from the dead?

My S5 takes awesome pics :thumb: Crazy situations man, at least your cars were ok! Fires get really big, and very, very quickly. As for those paint bubbles... I'm livid for seeing that. Human error is inevitable, but come on... even the studs have overspray!!!

I'm sure all will be well in the end have faith - and keep us updated!

And nice pleco! They grow pretty big! Any other fish in the tank?

Tell me about the spray job! worst job. costed me close to $800 for that including towing which costed $230.

I bought some paint and primer ready. Probably give the bay a good rub back soon. Some places to bare metal.

The pleco is still quite small and is in my community tank along with a few other catfish. Bristlenose, albino long fin, corys, orange spotted bristlenose, tetras and rummynose.

The tank is 240 litres (63 gallons). I will leave the plecos in there until they get too large and then I will move them into hopefully a 150 gallon tank when i have spare coin.

Again I have the same excuse, however I have made some progress.

Picked up paint for the bay awhile back. It will get sprayed within the fortnight.

Gave the car a good clean over the weekend, a nice wash and clay followed by a cut. I will polish and wax the car when it gets closer to 100%. The car also found a new home while the garage gets a reno.

Got my Jdm k20a flywheel machined.

Picked up a spare gearbox my cousin didn't need. It's a Dc5 5 speed box with a cusco 1.5 way lsd and a spoon 5.1FD. The gear ratios are similar to a 98 spec itr gearbox but taller 2-3-4. Ideally I would like slightly taller gearing but I will work with what I have :)

headed down to my local automotive store to pick up some supplies.

*Primer and paint for the gearbox
*wire brush and degreaser to prep the gearbox
*thread lock for the flywheel and pressure plate bolts.

Midway through wire brushing the gearbox.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150301_151116.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150301_151116.jpg.html)

After wire brushing, I used wax & degreaser to wipe the gearbox clean and free of contaminents. This is after 3 coats of engine enamel primer.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150301_151840.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150301_151840.jpg.html)

And finally, 3 coats of aluminum engine enamel paint to match the engine.

About an hour in after the final coat, Melbourne weather took a turn. Thank god the paint has harden and dried but curing it will take another week. First thing I did when the weather changed was put a table over the top to protect it from the rain... which didn't happen luckily.

Put on the freshly machined Jdm k20a flywheel and the comp clutch stage 4 sprung. Mixed reviews with the clutch, too late to change now because i bought it 2 years ago lols.

Flywheel bolts torqued to 90 ft/lbs
Pressure plate bolts torqued to 20 ft/lbs

Also applied thread lock to the bolts.

My buddy Sang was kind enough to donate me a set of dc2r side skirts so that I can fit my Top1 side splitter. Straight forward with the drilling and also used a little thread lock on all the bolts for safe measures.

Another night another small update. I finish work at 10pm so I can usually squeeze in an hour or 2 if I can be bothered with the weather.

Put on the 3 point Edelbrock tower brace brackets and really loving the design. It may not be a fully rigid design but having something is better than nothing, well.. in some cases anyways.

Forgot the mention I had the brake booster turned upside down, this puts the vacuum port on the bottom left rather than the top right. What does that mean? The vacuum line is more hidden = free mod to clean up the bay further hehe.

I got another rocker cover sand blasted and will be welding a single 16an fitting for the catch can, will also be shaving off the factory breather port.

Getting this coated metallic gloss black, same colour as my engine mount brackets and tower brace. Keeping it nice and simple.

Few things to add to the car

* New Oem clutch slave
* New Oem bonnet rod clip
* K-tuned brake booster line kit
* Buddy Club shift knob

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150323_191730.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150323_191730.jpg.html)

Bonnet rod clip, known to break with wear and tear.

Oem clutch slave on and clutch line connected. I couldn't re route the clutch line under the motor due to the length, too many hot parts to avoid in the rear which left no room to route the clutch line under.

Shifter cables, brackets and pins installed. Not happy about the over spray on the shifter cable from the previous spray job =[

I plan to spray the shifter mechanism satin black, looks tacky silver imo. Anyone know how to remove the shifter bushings? I have the K-tuned billet ones to be installed.

Will be welding on a single -16an bung for the catch can on the timing chain side of the rocker cover.

I will then need to design my own catch can and send the dimensions to Speedfactory for them to make me a one off catch can.

Great updates, as always! Love the progress. As for the cable bushings, there are a few options. 2 different pipe sizes (one for bushing and one for the surround of the shifter cable) and a portable mini vice. You can use a good ol' hammer too, just make sure you don't kind the shifter cable. And I forget another method I used once. But those two will do the trick.

Catch can sounds fun! Any ideas for mounting places and can dimensions yet?

Unfortunately I have some bad news.

all the cooler pipings and down pipe does not fit my car.

-2 piece down pipe (looks like it will clear ep3/rsx)
-dump tube
-intercooler pipings
-intercooler inlets.

Got quoted locally $620 for cooler piping and $250 for down pipe + dump tube.

Why didn't I email JDLautodesign to fix the problem? They are fucking hiding and ignoring me, that's why.

At first they did reply, but stopped replying to the last few emails which is a little over a month now.

Any advice on how I should approach this? I live in Australia so that is just bullshit.

I sent photos etc as proof at the time of emailing.

I do!

Michael Huy Nguyen.

I sent emails to both Ronnie and Jesse.

Really fustrating that after spending 5.2k for the kit, you get treated like this.

I even went the distance and got everything powder coated etc, what a massive loss.

This is where the intercooler should sit. Any lower and it will be below the rad support.

As you can see, the top inlet has nowhere to go, no piping will get to that. Only way is to mod the inlet and weld on 2x 45 degree

Long story short, To make cooler piping out of alloy will set me back double stainless.

I was wondering in regards to the IAT where I could place it in my setup? My adapter is alloy so I have no idea where to place it now since all my piping work will be stainless.

is the intake manifold plenum an option?

My new intercooler piping are made of stainless as the fabricator charges double for alloy.

my intake air temp sensor adapter is alloy which means I wont be able to get it welded onto my piping.

So i was wondering if i can weld it straight to my intake manifold (rbc) plenum instead without any problems.

Just drill and tap the piping and thread your iat sensor. That's what I did.

IIRC, IAT should be ~6" from the BOV, which should be 8-12" from the TB. PetefromtheStreets monjarassi Frostydc5 Can you gents chime in on this?

I don't think placement to bov is important. But I'd put it in my piping. If need be it can go into your intake manifold with No issues

It's alright guys, I found the info I needed on hondata. it says I can put the sensor straight onto my intake manifold. I will be cutting the adapter out from the pipes JDl made me (rubbish) and getting it welded onto the intake manifold.

So annoyed at JDLautodesign, bunch of *****s leaving a customer like this and not rectifying the situation like a genuine business.

Towing the car in a few hours, Only thing setting me back further delay is that I will now need a "stainless" Tial vband, arghhh.

Finally got around to organizing a time to tow the car out to get a few things done at JVN garage.

Whats being done? quite a bit of things tbh. JDLautodesign made me a kit that didn't fit, by the looks of it they have made a kit to suit a dc5 and not a dc2. After countless emails to rectify the problem they decided to ignore me because why not? I live half way accross the globe and can't do much.

things being fabricated -

*intercooler pipings (hot + cold)
*mount on intercooler
*re adjust oil return line/fittings
*down pipe
*dump tube
*full straight through exhaust from catback

9am is always a good start! said no one ever... in freezing and wet conditions. :(

Finally got around to organizing a time to tow the car out to get a few things done at JVN garage.

Whats being done? quite a bit of things tbh. JDLautodesign made me a kit that didn't fit, by the looks of it they have made a kit to suit a dc5 and not a dc2. After countless emails to rectify the problem they decided to ignore me because why not? I live half way accross the globe and can't do much.

things being fabricated -

*intercooler pipings (hot + cold)
*mount on intercooler
*re adjust oil return line/fittings
*down pipe
*dump tube
*full straight through exhaust from catback

9am is always a good start! said no one ever... in freezing and wet conditions. :(

430 bucks is a lot from coins lol.

I went to my friends stripped shell dc5. mocked everything roughly by eye and it fits correctly.

So I have a feeling they made a mistake but because it has been over a year, I don't think I can do anything? All parts still brand new etc.

I feel cheated and only found out 2 years later.

Because it's been that long it doesn't mean anything. But it could have been a misunderstanding. Point blank the customer is always right.

I screenshot all my emails, payments details from paypal as proof etc.

email clearly states what car, RHD vehicle and so forth.

I saved everything but not sure what else I can do on my end. I will call them this coming to see what they will say or if it's a simple case of hang up the phone and block my number.

Everyone in Australia refers an open dump to a screamer pipe. Needed to add that or all my Australian followers will start asking questions haha.

The car is almost done, would have been done ages ago if it wasn't for a silly mistake I made.

Loaded up the car with a few things and off I went to JVN garage.

I didn't have the radiator mocked up nor did I have the splitter bracket, therefore unfortunately the cold side is being remade.

Watched John do some welding, he kindly taught me a few things or 2 on what setup he rans to do his welding etc. Most importantly for good clean welding is prep work on the material.

Exhaust side of things are pretty much completed, down pipe and dump tube was modified from the original work that jdl did.

Full exhaust is made up of a 100 cell cat and 3'' piping all the way to a magnaflow muffler (centre/offset). Everything will be held together by v-bands.

Thanks guys, you're all too kind.

Need some help

How do I set up my turbo regarding boost control?

Do I just buy a mac 4 port boost solenoid and install that only? Or do I need to add things ontop such as a manual or electronic boost controller.

Not sure what is needed next for my car to run.

Thanks guys.

As you can see, this is my first time putting together a boosted setup.

Today I test fitted a preface lift rear bar that my friend david kindly cut for me. A little issue here with clearance but nothing I'm worried about, muffler just needs to go down 1 cm or so to clear the bumper.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150715_225747.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150715_225747.jpg.html)

I quickly test fitted the headlights on to make sure everything fits, the ballast kisses the piping so small that I can either leave it like that or I can shave a few mm off the ballast housing.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150716_002158.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150716_002158.jpg.html)

I will be restoring the headlights soon, it's on the list of things to do but isn't at the top of my priorities. I will be getting the lense professional restored and I will be painting'coating the ballast housing satin black.

http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab146/mnc1408/20150716_002328.jpg (http://s858.photobucket.com/user/mnc1408/media/20150716_002328.jpg.html)

What's left to do (major)

- Finish off tucking the brake lines and prop valve.

- Make a custom charge harness and find a suitable place to mount the battery.

- Find a location for the milspec engine harness plate.

- Finish off the fuel lines.

- assemble all the loose bits, bumper, fenders, radiator, etc

Mounted on the griffin rad, the top rad hose unfortunately kinks, cutting it was the only option.

Nice updates and pictures! Everyone gets great pictures on this forum. I love it, technology is such a great thing.

Hey guys, Just strarted the car with a base map off the kmanager and car idles quite rough.

Can anyone chime in with a modified map on the safest setting possible?

even after setting in the dead times etc, it still idles pretty rough.

Thanks boostedk20 community =]

I would most likely need to see the map to see what could be wrong. And a datalog

No problem, we don't usually give freebies, but seeing we havn't done anything for BoostedK for awhile, this one is on the house. Its just a basemap of course, so will require more work for sure. Had tuned one of these on the rollers last year, near identical build so should be close, reset some parameters for safety. Recommend 4 bar sensor, be sure to calibrate TPS. As always, all maps are for offroad use only, there are no mechanical gauruntees, please review parameters before uploading, please check our site for the legal disclaimer, etc.

Etunez custom tune for: Boosted K20

Type: Offroad use only.

Car: K20 PRB
Modifications:
SD Based intake
5858 Turbo
ID 1000cc injectors, standard latency.
Assumed 48psi +/- 5psi fuel pressure assumed.
Free flowing Exhaust
Fuel: 93 Octane 10%E assumed.
Elevation: 500ft ASL assumed.

Rev1: Custom fueling, ignition and VTC for a PRB K20 turbo build, Assumed stock MAP sensor, recommend 4 bar.
