View Full Version : Si Speed 317's BoostedK20 Build - Round 2

Si Speed 317

Well, my first build was a GT2871R and a cast manifold from TSI. It was a great and fun build, however I needed more power and fun for my daily driver. Is it ever enough? So here I am: 2007 Civic Si coupe (FG2) with Mercedes black paint, full suspension, One-off turbo manifold from SRT, GT3076R, and more goodies to come this year!

Here are a few shots from last year's Honda Day:

I'll be keeping this thread updated as my old thread was, well, old and outdated.

New IM gasket:

Modded fuel cage, SS line, Gojin fuel filter, and AEM FPR (fuel pressure regulator):

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/19/agy7a5e2.jpg

I'm im the process of looking for new black AN fittings for my K-Tuned FR (fuel rail). Need a 180* fitting, all fittings for my FPR, and 2' of SS line to replace my stock hardline between the firewall and FR.

Also looking for a new fuel sender and will be doing the Ainokea_Si method to ethanol-proof it so my fuel gauge will read correctly with e85.

I'll make sure to keep you guys updated, you'll definitely see me at Honda Day this year. Im fact, you'll see a few BoostedK20 setups there. We have a crew going up!

I'm on my way to get a few parts powdercoated now. Can't reveal what they all are, but one is my FPR. Can't wait to get them back! Didn't even drop them off yet :rotfl:

I remember seeing that car there parked where you had to walk around the back of the track where the cars were lining up. It was by it self. I was thinking how clean it looked and jelous. I need a new paint job. The factory paint is not durable at all..

Ordering some new fittings for my return setup tonight. Also ordering some Stage 8 bolts and nuts to keep my turbo in a nice spot ;) Pricey, but well worth the investment.

Yup, that was my car. Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to have the paint I have. And you'll see her again this year, however it will definitely stand out more and with only subtle changes. :wiggle:

@ almk It will be based on the thread pitch of your manifold. Which probably wouldn't be the same as his.

I don't understand why quotes never work for me on this site...i hit reply with quote and it just sits there...but it works from my phone!!@#

snizzletoff the way to make quotes work is to use the multi quote button (even if you want to quote just one thing) and then hit the post reply button on the bottom left. As for the bolts I thought all t3 flanges used the same thread pitch?

Ya def will be going again! I'm debating wether to drive my car down and put miles on it or not.
I haven't taken my car yet. I got my turbo set up im going to put on once weather gets better. Unfortunately paint job is on the end of my list for mods. Your cars definitely looking good tho man.

I'm going to double check with Mo from SRT tomorrow, seems most T3/T4 flanges have 9mm diameter holes for bolts, so a 10mm is obv a no-no. I'll most likely be going with the 8mm 1.5x25mm locking bolts but once I find out I will let you know.

Sub'd for round 2 as well.
Thanks :wavey:

My T3 flange on both the turbo and manifold are straight through. No threads, so it's a nut and bolt setup. As for quotes, you just have to click 'Reply with Quote' twice. Not sure why, I believe it's in the process of being solved.

Not all T3 flanges are threaded, most aren't.

It was a K-Tuned SS clutch line that goes 180* directly from the CMC to a 90* to the slave (CSC). Installed an OEM Honda EM1 CMC from a 2000 Si with a local buddy, couldn't have done it in the amount of time we did it without him. Came out great, so far feels great shifting and I've only done shifts accelerating at 5k so far.

As an update, I ordered an AEM 320lph from BBN (@ksboi) on Monday and it arrived today. That is what I call FAST shipping. It was $99 shipped, and a great price which beats others online with super fast shipping. And I didn't overnight it. Pics for drools:

Received one AN fitting yesterday for the fuel return, and I will receive the others and my fuel gauge tomorrow. And some other goodies by the end of the week that I'm excited about. Hopefully my FPR and other thing that's getting powdercoated are ready! I miss this process, lol.

Got some e85 proof metal patch filler by Devcon. Gonna use this for my fuel sender to prevent it from corroding. Also going to use this on the pump connector contact.

The one issue I'm having is how to connect the fuel pump electrically to the car.. do I tap into the stock wire?

Man, your car looks sooooooo mmmmmm. I still don't get how those tires don't rub on the fenders when hitting bumps. I am in for a set of 9 inch rpf1's shortly but keep wondering maybe the 8's are a better choice. I want my car to be totally functional DD. I have a deep unseated fear that 9 inch wheels will most certainly hit on fenders and quarters when going over bumps.
Your car is badass.

Update: Well, I have pretty much everything I need now, just waiting on my powdercoater still... pain in the ass. I genuinely dislike when someone has your parts for 2 weeks and hasn't dine anything yet. But it's worse when you call them multiple times and they don't answer. And it's even worse when theyre voicemail is full. But I finally got a call back.

In other news, I wake up to find this by my front door:

I attended Honda Day at Atco yesterday, had a blast. Met a lot of new people, there was a lot of nice builds and some dope races. I was very happy to finally meet and hang out with Adm_rsx aftetr knowing him online for 2 years. Also saw stage2auto, Str8JDM, a bunch of instagram followers and many others. Was a great day overall. I hustled hard all morning, day, and night on Saturday to get my car ready for Sunday. It was a last minute decision. I had none of the parts installed that I planned to have on for Honda Day, I wasn't able to meet with AndrewBigA to get my car detailed, and many other things. I was very unprepared by my standards. However, my paint came out great after washing the car and prepping it myself for Honda Day, thanks to Big A's detailing job from last summer and his advice to clean the car at the show. With a long hustle and no sleep for two days, I showed up to Honda Day with the beat package I was able to bring considering it was last minute.

I ended up winning 1st place for all 06+ Civics, I was super excited (considering it was the first car show I've ever entered) and the award turned on many people's interest in my car. Needless to say, the car is easy to pass up if you don't know all the things that have been done to it. Anyways, here are a few pics from Honda Day:

Update: changed my brake fluid yesterday to Pennzoil fluid, it exceeds DOT3&4 fluid boiling temps. It was $6 a quart at Walgreens. Okay, let me explain myself:
I was working on my friends 02 gixxer, the rear brake wasn't working. So, I tried to bleed the brakes and fluid barely came out. So, we ordered a rebuild kit for the rear master. Swapped that out, cleaned the gunk out and needed fluid to bleed the caliper. He picked up something random on his way back, he brought a yellow Pennzoil 12 fl.oz super heavy duty that exceeds DOT3&4 boiling temps. So I rebled the rear caliper. BOOM: hard as a rock :giggle: :thatswhatshesaid:
I thought that fluid was pretty interesting, it also mixes with any other non-silicone based fluid. So I gave it a shot. So far, it's awesome. Did some normal driving and I'm happy so far. Won't be a true fan until I do some real back-to-back high speed braking though. We'll see.

As for the car, I'll be installing my fuel return and intake manifold within a week. I have an insane idea with my turbo that I have yet to see, so I'll keep you all updated on that.

I say leave it as polished aluminum, I think that would look good. Also there is a great DIY for the knock sensor on 8th written by vtec fred. I replaced mine a couple months ago and it was pretty easy, but that guide was a nice reference.
Its on here as well ;) thanks for the reference, yea I decided to do it while I swap IMs, made more sense to me. And yea I'm gonna install it first and see how I feels about it, it just shipped so hopefully by the weekend I'll have it in

Sorry I somehow missed this back in the day, Andrew. Yes I was!! #OldSchool

I love when fittings come in. It's like a puzzle game of putting all the pieces together. And because I have a 4 yr old I FUCKING LOVE PUZZLES!

I just saw this looking back on my thread for a part and ROFL'd again!

I rikey! Did you see PJ's mat's at Boosted Life? I want those bad boys! $200+ mats from Egypt or something, though! That's insane but sick! He's probably one the only ones in the US with those Mugen Mats.

Build Update:

I found a good deal on a turbo and I couldn't resist. So, this may be the beginning of my 3rd round of turbo setups - but this goes all out now. Built motor, built tranny, mounts to complement, and this turbo.
So, here's my new GT42RS (GT4202R). Has a 74mm hot side, and 102mm cold side, with a 1.15AR hot side. I'll switch that out to a 1.01 if I keep it, makes a big difference but regardless it's a big ass turbo. Full boost at mid to high 6k rpm. Built motor spinning 9 will handle that well. But, I'd rather sell it and get something a bit smaller for a nice daily. Maybe a nice BW or something.

Ya I think you'd be better off with something a little smaller. Even with a built motor this turbo is HUGE. What are your goals? All out track car? Cage? 10s? 9s?

8's.

Lol no, I'm not sure yet honestly. It's gonna take a lot of money, fab, and work. Might just be better scooping up an EM1 with a cage and kswap already done for like 5-6k (3x the price of the turbo haha) but I'm just taking it slow. Im in no rush.

Nice come up on that bigass turbo, definately put that to use on a non-daily track monster!
