Whats a raceKar without a racing spec batt??
Time to throw away the duralast and upgrade to a Odyssey, thanks to the homie Ryan for the batt, bracket, and terminals!!
Onto the pix....

Just curious why you decided to use such a small battery even after relocating it? Isn't that kinda the point of relocating is that you can still use a full size battery that will last longer and work better in the cold (not that you are too concerned with the cold part since your in TX).

Since it's a sealed batt, you don't have to worry about battery fumes in the car. The battery works really good in the cold weather (though we don't see too much of it in Texas) it is lighter weight and doesn't take up much room in the interior. And now that I have switched to a smaller battery, i can actually use my trunk again since my old battery took up most of the space.

For it's size, the odyssey battery performs awesome and you can't put that thing anywhere and won't lose much space. Granted a regular size battery will store more energy for longer durations, but it's not really needed unless you leave the key turned in the ignition all the time or have two 12s in the back

Simple 2 self tapping screws to support the batt onto its bracket onto the brace under the rear seat cushio..

I think its still functional. I have all 4 corners rolled running 245/40's on 17x9's. I rub (tires to inner fender) on steep, angled ramps and bumps. Also can't take turns as hard as I'd like :sadbanana:

If you'd like, you can try Watter Wetter or Engine Ice for radiator fluid. Worked amazing on all my bikes. Might do the trick vs a new radiator. And as for cooling, hows that Evo front mount doing? What are your IATs on your first pull and your next few pulls?

Well i meant fan as too have the car kool down after pulls at home, the ect are controllable and i am using watter wetter at the moment/distilled water. Iat's at night range from a mid 80's to 95 though a pull and settle around the low 90's to high 80's before next pull. I feel like its doing its job.

:thumb: Definitely working well! Since your bumper is shaped to expose the front mount, you'll get better cooling than 8th gen civics and RSXs. Our bumpers 1/2 - 3/4 of our intercoolers

My front mount takes up my entire bumper and my cooler covers any chance of air getting to my radiator. I will be needing another custom read this time most likely a 4 core rad with 2 decent sized fans.

Ya the majority of my intercooler was covered by my crash beam, I think that was the biggest reason. That and it wasn't too big. With my new setup I shouldn't have nearly as big a problem with IATs.

Got to race a c6 vette with a cam, bolt ons, tuned for n20, we assuming he had a 150+ shot on there, and my buddys 5.0 mustang with bolt ons, intake manifold, tuned and geard or diff, not sure what all they be doing.. Cut the story short the ep came home with a massive boost leak and was acting up while doing the pulls, it was as if it was missfiring while going up the powerband. Time to wrench..

Been thinking of a way to add a little subtle flavor to the rear HFP spoiler that will help aerodynamically and add a hence of style to the rear bold looking hatch. Did some research and found a bright idea on NASIOC that the wagon owners be doing to the rear spolier and a bulb clicked.. So i went ahead and ordered a self adhesive lip spolier made out of flexible polymer. Its a hit or miss so just trying to get some feedback from ya fellas and lmk if YAY or NAY on the idea or route im taking...

So basically rather then letting all the air pass by your rad you made this sheet here and it forces the air to go through the rad vs through the empty space beside it?

Yes. The empty space on the left was allowing too much air in flooding the bay with hot air causing the rise in temp fast.

I'm making some where in the high 400's...

No idea its making a rattle noise after 2k rpm when I rev it. I drove it home limping in 5th at 38mph to prevent the rattle from being loud. Drove the baby home 28miles home...

I leave ya'll with a vid of the TCT in action and a picture of how the car sits till me new TCT arrives from my tuner.

How loud is the rattling? Is it coming from the timing chain area? It could be chain slap.

its pretty loud around 2-4k rpms when i rev it at idle its quiet as stock.

The noise comes from the head

from a scale of 1-10 id say 6, and thats just the sound of it when rolling

The sound itself is kinda like if a marble was in the vc and floating around the cams and stuff but only from 2-4k rpm

It was tough man realtalk.

Confused ur against the HR tct

I know a lot of pole use it with no issues, but I met two people personally who had issues one of them had 3 of them literally break to pieces and shred his motor after the 3rd one he went back to oem never to have issues again.
Maybe it was just bad luck and granted this was a little while ago so maybe it was the first batch of the ones HR made, but I'm just that guy that some scary shit like that will keep me away from something, unless it's completely unavoidable ill stick to oem.

On a side note, i agree with what you said about we all have out limits, I only ever tell people in your situation one thing and that is make the car run again before you decide to get out of it. That way you never look back and say "damn I should have fixed it" so you know you got out of the game on a positive note. Just my .02 cents

Can you please take pics in reverse order and post them up as a "DIY: How to Remove K-Series Head" please? You can also post the correct order of torquing and their specs if you don't mind. I'm sure that can help out A LOT of people, including myself. Please, and thank you very much. We will definitely give you rep!

Looks good btw!

Yea I was very surprised of the out come and wasn't expecting the damage to be so lite.
Sucks the crank is toast doh.

Spent the morning cleaning the head and getting it all nice and clean..

Since this is new to me, is the crank toast because journal 2 got scraped up from rod 2 and that unbalanced the crank? Because in this case, I believe you can get the crank rebalanced. But this isn't something I'm experienced with, that's just my thought/interpretation.

Yes the bearing giving up caused the crankshaft to go bad. And from my tuners advice he don't want me messing with it. Not recommended

The crankshaft wont be able to be cut within tolerance.

I have been told cutting a k series crank is a bad idea. Makes them too weak.

Ya, you want a good uncut crank.

monjarassi
09-09-2013, 06:55 PM
Well at the moment still having thoughts what route to go
Option 1 put a stock a3 in it and DD till i trade it in for something else
Option 2 Re-build it and spend alot of dough and one day be down again...
Option 3 sell all the items and see how much i get back and go fron there.
Idk guys lots of thinking to do now

Gotcha, that makes sense. Give yourself time, so you don't rush into something and regret it later. Don't you also have an 8th gen you wanted to boost? Could be time to go have fun with that z3

monjarassi
09-09-2013, 07:58 PM
yea but that z3 has 120k+ miles on the motor would hate for something to happen to it

Sounds familiar and a road I've been down twice now yet am somehow in the process of rebuilding the engine now just take your time step back and think it thru do what you want to when your ready to. Even though you have sold a few parts does not mean they can't be replaced with others I have sold manifolds, clutches , turbos , k pros and yet am still at it just replaced the old stuff with better stuff .Hopefully you will be able to put something together in the future
