lol. ugh went to get this bad boy street tuned for the clutch break in (have someone elses base map) annnd i either have a short or failed to conect something that helps charge my battery, so either of my 2 batteries keep dying after about 5 minutes =/ i noticed my passenger side mount is missing a ground cable, what does it go to?

It's just a ground from motor to chassis. Did you put the ground near the injectors on the valve cover?

05-17-2011, 02:45 AM
i drove my baby home tonight. but since it has the new clutch its not fully tuned. and a couple other things like my return line leaking a little bit. just enough to burn off.

k24 = no effort torque. starts to spool at 2k. rumbles like a wrx at idle. type s bov sounds just like the eclipse in TFATF. its sexy minus the smoke LOL.

its so sick, 470 miles, a new reducer/coupler, an oil change, and tighten the return line till i get my full tune.

Its gonna take awhile to get my longevity results, I only put about 2-3000 miles a year on it now. Keep us posted AKEP, looking at your other build thread I think the only real difference is the intake manifold.

yeah right now i just need to break the clutch in and fix that leak. i have an rbc waiting to go in also, so i'll be swapping that out and fixing my iac around the same time, which isnt too far away.

i do need a coupler for the tb/charge pipe. i'll probably order that tonight.

I bent the plate that's on the tb. And also cut a section out I believe. The nipple that's on top of the manifold just pulls out but it's quite a bitch I say take a pair of channel locks and grab, twist and pull.

wastegate diaphragm ripped, i think. fml. ordering a new tial 38mm diaphragm...

edit: nvm i took it apart, diaphragm was good, changed the cheap bolts out for good ones and ordered new 38mm gaskets, put in 8lb spring, changed the synthetic washers out for copper ones, and some high temp grease on the valve stem/guide to help seal it better.

probably going to install a new return line, tsi in favor from the banjo bolt.

Nice man, wastegate problem solved? Also, how did you get your hands on the TSI return?

my bad for the long reply, i guess ff5 doesn't refresh app tabs. i look at this everytime i open firefox but no updates...lame.

anyway, i emailed them. took a couple days for a response but i got one and sent them my cc number and all that through email (risky, i know) but they charged me $20 and shipped it out. i should warn that you should lay it face down on a sheet of 220 and sand it flat. i swear they machined mine but when i tried the 220 it showed a couple low spots. so i did that and made a gasket out of oil resistant gasket material i picked up at autozone (i also made gaskets for my oil lines with it, no leaks) and slapped it on. i got some 5/8 steel braided line for my return and i'll say it now, you need to install that line while the plate is OFF. i spent a good hour trying to force it on when it was on the car already. clamped it off with a 3/4 hose clamp and it hasn't leaked yet. but i've only driven it about 100 ft.

i'll get videos and whatnot when i get the tune.

car is still running :thumb:

still looking for a tubular manifold to change into for the gt30. i may have a pair of aces up my sleeve on this one. as long as boostedk20 stays running i'll leave updates. or follow me on ephatch.

just stock tires, 205/55-16. going to go with some potenza's @ 225/50-16. going to make a cold air intake and make it work with a mugen air duct for the jdm front bumper. going to upgrade to a gt3071r or 35r and a top mount tubular manifold and 3" down pipe here next summer or spring. and get a 6 puck sprung. arp head studs. probably just going to run that until the motor gives if it ever does. and i found something out thats kind of a huge secret to the motor so i gotta get that done too. going for low boost and high numbers next year. depending how that holds me over as far as drivability with that much power and grip, i'll start upping the fuel system to bigger injectors and/or return style fuel rail and go to e85.

hopefully thats all i need for a 300-500hp dd lol.

There's a big difference from a 3071R and a 35R, but I would go external if at all possible IMHO. Don't go tubular and internal, works best with external because of the AMAZING flow characteristics of a tubular mani. And return is a good idea, but how would you proof the sender for e85?

There is a huge difference between a 300hp marker and a 500hp marker lol Thats a huge gap.

I'm going to run a 255 front an rear once I get some rpf1's to slap em on.

the secret is valves but thats all i can share:paper:

yeah i know there is, i did the math and i need a 35r. i don't know how the evoX snail flows just yet but the idea is that it spools super low and is able to make a TON of power up high. AND they have a GTX upgrade for it from ATP. Not sure what you mean by "proof" for the sender?

Yeah was going going to have a low/high boost setting in kpro, for those sneaky sneaky times. Right now all i have for my rims are my rota track-r's and they're only 7" wide. i figure with better rubber i'll have a little more grip for what i have now. actually i sohuld have a ton more since im on 205 touring tires right now. I've driven on the new tires i want and they STICK with a GLI @ 19psi. believe me i want some fat sticky tires but that'll come with the new manifold/turbo setup.

damn they start to get expencive at 235/45/17. im looking at some Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport's @ 225/50/16 for $105 from tire rack, the 17's cost $50 more per tire!

im on s-techs and scrape with the mid-pipe tucked as close as it can go. we both know for a fact there is about 2-3 ft of pipe that doesn't have a tunnel.

maybe its a cali thing. the speed bumps means i can't park any closer.

got a cc stg 4 clutch, just broke it in last night, oem clutch was letting go on 7psi with the tires.
trying to fab a catch can setup.
gunna install my fuel pump and start piecing together a return style setup.
might pick up an a1 head here soon to swap out the k24a2 casting with.
along with some ARP hardware.
sending out my spare manifold and tb to maxbore, then my rbc and another tb.
got type s brake conversion, powdercoated and rebuilt, just waiting on pads and rotors.

so hit a deer and a change of plans. out the pocket $3000 so far on repairs. could have been a new manifold and turbo and fuel system by now. haven't got anything done yet, this happened a week after my last update. (i did cop a jdm bumper though...)

Lots of new plans, too much to list, it involves a precision 5758, new fuel system, a new(er) built head, manifolds, intercooler, and possible forged rods and pistons. found out my tsx block has a forged crank already. maybe z3 pump or erl modified, maybe not.

might pick up another tranny for backup too. trying to source k24 arp pieces without using my connections. i think i'll have to on this one.

the finer details are still a bit blurry, if anything im pretty dead set on the new manifold and turbo. the fuel has to come with it. building the bottom will cost me about as much as the fuel system, whether i want to actually take the bottom end apart is beyond me and dependent on what my situation is at the time. I have a semi sponsor kinda thing going on so i'm getting a pretty good deal on it all for the most part. might end up with no bottom end parts beyond headstuds, a fully sleeved bottom end, or something in between. who knows. of course i'll keep this updated if/when anything happens. its going slow right now.
