Well I figure its about time a put together a thread for the NSX. I have nothing crazy planed for her other then some well deserved mechanical and cosmetic maintenence and maybe a few bolt on.

As soon as I picked up the car the paint looked horrible. So I knew it needed to go to Envious Finishes to get a 3 step. Plus it worked out that the detail was auctioned off from the Stance East meet.

After the detail it was off to Acura for her 90k maintenence which consisted of a new timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, valve adjustment, coolent flush, tranny flush, and brake flush. I also had the PS and AC belts changed.

Next up is to just drive it for the summer and enjoy it. I still have a couple leaks that have to get looked at and am also looking for a front OEM lip and OEM wheels.

Gorgeous. Looks awesome, I drove my friend's 1 of 3 2005 orange NSX and it was great. I was surprised at how my civic definitely has a much better feel in terms of handling, braking, and power, but thats expected. Still an awesome car, and only 9k on it. Looks are stunning, congrats again!

I just picked up a k&n intake. It's pretty much just a filter with a very small adapter on it. Should be getting it onthe mail this week hopefully.

Sounds good, NSX's don't have a MAF sensor, just an IAT right? If it's a MAF, oiled filter is no good.

06_typeS

Im pretty sure its a MAF sensor. Why is the oil filter not any good?

Here's the intake here.

The oil from the filter hits the MAF sensor and, in essence, makes it read incorrect readings - very bad for your motor

Bit of an update. Since getting the maintanence done the car has been running really good. The speedometer was going wonky so I replace the sensor which took care of the problem.

I also replaced the monstrosity of an antenna that came on the car. When the radio was on it must have reached upwards to 6 feet. I replaced it with a stubby.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/5_zps95b2d2ff.jpg

Then I was preparing her for her first long distance trek to Boston. She ran pretty good other then swaying all over the road. Every rut in the road the car wanted to follow. So we jacked her up and figured out the problem was a bad front left side outter tie rod end and left rear outter ball joint.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/12_zps4149cb4f.jpg

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/8_zps147b5b43.jpg

And after 1500+kms this is how she looked once she got to sleep for the night.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/10_zps12e48c05.jpg

So the car once again sits up on jack stands and awaits removal and the send off of the knuckle to get a new ball joint installed. Acura doesnt just sell a ball joint, you have to replace the whole knucle/ball joint assembly.

So since the car is up on jack stands

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/7_zpsc0221662.jpg

I decided to change up the wheels a bit. About 10 coats of plastidip later and this is the result.

Damn, you gotta pay to play in exotics territory. Well worth it though, from what I can see. Any new shots with the plasti-dipped wheels?

06_typeS
09-27-2012, 11:24 AM
The car is still on jack stands so I havent put the wheels back on. Plus I only had one can of plastidip so I only got 2 wheels done. That shit is crazy expensive here. $20.99 a can here vs. $5.98 a can at Lowes. My inlaws were in Maine for the day so I got them to pick me up 8 cans lol.

Si Speed 317
10-02-2012, 12:20 AM

Bit of an update. Car is now parked for a long 6 months of hibernation. I replaced the rear wheel bearing, removed the front tie rod end and rear control arm end and ordered up their replacments. Although I am having a bitch of a time getting that metal spacer off the front tie rod end.

I did get to snap some photos with the wheels plastidipped.

Car looks great man. Nice to see you're keeping her nice. And that you had a life goal and achieved it. Granted it's a car, it's a dream car to over 99% of the people who see it and you've made it a reality. Congratulations for real man, this is more than just a sick car to get in my eyes. A legend, and a real expensive car. Is it classified as an exotic? Because with suttle mods, it looks just as good, if not better than newer exotics:

So describe what its like driving an NSX - from the feel to the looks u get to the sound you hear. Elaborate as much as youd like

06_typeS
01-03-2013, 09:31 PM
It's a feeling like I can't describe. It's defiantly not as powerful as the RSX but it's not even about that. The feeling is real. It's all there. The power, the handling.

I have never driven a mid engines real wheel drive car other then my NSX, so I have nothing to compact it too.

As for looks, everytime I'm out I'm being stared at. Gas stations, restaurants, cruising on the highway. The looks are always there. The first day I bought it I parked it a the casino to show my grand father. Within 3 minutes I had a crowd of old gambler men standing around asking questions and looking the car over. They could not believe it was an Acura.

I took it for our annual road trip to your states with a few friends in Sept, had one lady in NH stop me and ask me if it was a 2012, I stated that it was in fact a '91 and she was dumbfounded.

I didn't get to really drive it that much after the Boston trip due to a really bad wheel baring causing the car to sway really bad on the road. That and a few new tie rod ends and ball joints we should have a great spring.

Thats awesome! Everything I assumed it would be. Sounds like you'll have a great sprinf season for sure. Its a phenomenal looking car, I truly plan to own one in the future. Either white or red, black is nice too but the Si is black and I always wondered about red or white.

Very glad to hear you're enjoying the exotic thus far. Make sure to update this like crazy! Cheers

Bit of an update. Decided to redo the brakes as they were chipping, dirty and looked horrible. The PO just spray painted everywhere and there is so much overspray on just about every component in teh wheel well. I feel they turned out "alright" Ill keep them as is for a bit. I may repaint them back to red eventually. On with the pics.

Parts look great! Word of advice though, the Hawk HPS will dust insanely. I know, I'm a firm believer of the saying "if they're not dusting, they're not working." But the Hawk PC (performance ceramic; the ceramic version of the HPS pads) work JUST as well and don't dust nearly as much. Street and track. :thumb:

Coils look great! Thankfully coilovers are pretty simple to adjust properly and setup. Tweaking is what matters. Post up if you're having any issues, we got you!

As for them squeeling, I have never had a problem with squeeling on the RSX. boosted_teg (Adam), Brent had HP+ on his Evo and you could hear him coming from blocks away. Ive never heard of HPS squeeling at all. But I will let you know.

I have buddy club coils on my civic and love them. Luckily there is a thread in 8th civic detailing how to set them up. You may want to call buddy club and ask them they might be able to help.

Can you repost it in the DIY section on the site? That way, we expand and create a vast archive of information.

I can but I think the instructions I followed were slightly incorrect. I just did a test and check and luckily I only had to once because I didn't drop the car much.

Got everything in and hooked up...... for the most part. The front coils are giving me some troubles. They are super close to the control arms. Im hoping after the car is lowered then they will clear with more room.

Update. Took the car for its first drive of the year. All of 500 meters or so. We got the suspension installed on the car, however its not dialed in yet. For that im going to have to make a call to BRoycustomfabperformaceinc for his assistance. Next is hopefully new wheels and tires, and have a good 4 months of driving before the big move.

On with a few pics.

Bit of a small update.

After a lot of research there are not a lot of tire options remaining in NSX sizes (without setting off ABS/TCS lights). I have decided to just purchase a set of front tires for the time being, seeing how my rears are still in great shape. I went with the Yokohama S. Drives. I read some great reviews and seeing how they are fairly priced I decided to pick them up. They also make the size I want for the rear 265/35/18, so that will be good for when its time to order rears.

I also picked up a new right side front tie rod end and a set of 25mm spacers to hold me off until my rims reach state side for me to purchase. I decided to go with Enkei's new release for 2013. The Kojin in 17x8 +35, and 18x9.5 +30.

That's it for now. Hopefully inspection early next week and I'll be driving it once the snow all melts up.

Added the 25mm spacers in the rear and 15mm spacers in the front last night. Also installed the new tie rod end. Just waiting for the alignment tomorrow and then shes ready for SpeedSport and summer.

I still think the rear has to come down a bit and maybe the front end up a bit.

I got my fenders rolled yesterday thanks to BRoycustomfab&performanceinc. Had a small problem with the passenger side fender as it had a crack at the top and split a little bit more. I guess that gives me the excuse to get it welded and repainted.

A few changes have been made just before the car goes into Hibernation. A new set of Zinardi floor mats, along with a new (to me) trunk carpet, and a New set of 265/35/18 Yokohama S Drives.

I ordered my tires about a month ago just to put on before the car goes into storage, and yesterday I took my rear wheels off to lower the rear and this is what I discovered.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/IMG_4367_zpsb3bb61a3.jpg (http://s1185.photobucket.com/user/06_typeS/media/91%20NSX/IMG_4367_zpsb3bb61a3.jpg.html)

Its funny, because it was only my RR that had this problem, my LR was perfectly fine. I had the car aligned in the spring, here is the print out.

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z342/06_typeS/91%20NSX/IMG_43771_zps5d6beece.jpg (http://s1185.photobucket.com/user/06_typeS/media/91%20NSX/IMG_43771_zps5d6beece.jpg.html)

So today I got my tires mounted and well see how long these will last.

The only update is that the NSX is sitting at my Gramps in his garage covered up. My friend is headed over this weekend to take her out for a drive.

Im really missing her right now. Its still not to late to ship her over, but then I wouldnt be able to buy a car to have while im here and to bring back.

Im leaning towards an Evo 7 or an e46 M3.

Not much of an update, but I have been hoarding a few parts at my friends place. The wife and I made a deal that if I do not buy a car while I am in Germany then I can still purchase parts for the NSX from time to time.

So I made a few purchases, for the interior I picked up a Momo Tuner Wheel, NRG hub and Carbon Fiber quick release. For the exterior, a Seibon Carbon Fiber "Type R" vented hood, rear spoiler and rear lower valance. That will just about all I will do for the exterior. I still need to get the front end repainted as there are spider cracks all along the front lower valance and I am missing the toe hook cover. And to finalize the suspension I picked up a set of Comptech sway bars and Source1 end links.

Next on the list, but probably not until the fall will be Pride Lightweight or V2 exhaust, headers, and test pipes. I also need start on the maintenace of the car again. New o2 sensors when the exhaust gets replaced, and I need to take care of that pesky oil leak. Only thing left to replace is the cam plugs and axel seals and hopefully that will take care of that problem.

I will update with pictures as I recieve them..... Stay tuned.

Didn't plan on it Adam, why do you ask? It doesn't see enough day light as it is, I am not that worried about it turning yellow.

I am just going to stick with my upgraded Powerslot Rotors, Hawk HPS pads and SS lines. I couldnt justify dropping $2800 for a rear bbk set up alone.

Not much of an update but our first major East Coast indoor car show is coming up next week. My friends asked if they could put the NSX in the show. I gave the thumbs up. Had to get a tractor to clear a path to the barn so we can get the NSX trailers up.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to get any parts install before the show. I will have some time when we go home to visit family back in Oct/Nov.

So I will be pulling a full all nighters to install:

Sway bars, end link, steering wheel, QR & Hub, CF spoiler, hood and rear valance. I think thats all I have bought so far. hahhaha

In late Aug I plan to put my order in for Pride V2 Exhaust (youtube it), headers, and test pipes. So I will have those to install when I get home. Then the cars exterior will be completed. Next I will (re)-start on preventative maintance and my interior.
DC5R seats in red, with some aftermarket rails.

Also, for more pics of the build follow me on IG @ 06_typeS.

Bosot one brothers.

No updates as of yet as. I am going home in Sept/Oct and plan on installing all parts that I have aquired since my move. After my visit I plan on dropping the NSX off at the Dock Yards in Nova Scotia to be loaded onto a ship to make its voyage to Germany.

On a side note, found out that the kid that bought my RSX blew it up over the summer only within a month or two of selling it to him. He put in an 06 Si engine but just traded in at a HOnda dealership and it was sold to a guy in Montreal I guess. I am a little dissapointed in myself for actually selling it. I should have kept the car or brought it with me.

Next month I will be home and get to spend some wrenching time on the NSX with friends. I cannot wait to get all my parts installed. I will update once the parts are on. Also contemplating a low boost turbo kit. I miss boost so muchhhhh.

Even a basic blower would be nice, and help retain drivability around a circuit or road course.

Blower or turbo kit would be awesome, without a doubt. You know how we feel about boost :turbohug:

How long will you be home for, just visiting?

Well I made it home for a few weeks. Got to drive the NSX for a bit before I got very discouraged with it. While inspecting the car after I pulled it out of my Grandfathers garage, I opened up the trunk to find a huge mouse nest. Housing insulation, trunk carpet, paper and shit all rolled up in a ball in the corner of the trunk... FML.... So after cleaning that out, and inspecting for chewed wires I found nothing. I then took it on a road trip to the states for a weekend when it started acting up. 1st was the passenger side window would not go down, which it misteriously cured itself on the drive home?!?! Next was a missfire/sputter under load from 1000-3500 rpm. So pretty much in every gear driving at normal speeds. At times on the highway I would have to leave it in 4th just to stay above 3500 to avoid the sputter. And last was a huge oil leak. The car always leaked a bit of oil, but this leak was a steady drip (approx. every 3-5 seconds) coming from one of the vtec solinoid gaskets (which was replaced from Acura 2 years ago).

So it spent the last few days that I was home at the dealer getting repaired, which I still havent heard if I got a bill or not. Big thanks to boosted_teg for picking the car up on a few different occasions and putting it in storage for me.

So next on the agenda for the NSX.... More maintenance. I am going to start with replacing both o2 Sensors (which I have, just didnt have time to install), new coil packs and spark plugs, ignition igniter, main relay, and fuel pump.

On a side note, I did get the BBK, CF hood & spoiler, steering wheel/quick release, and exhaust on. Headers and rear lower valance will have to wait until the next time I am home, which isnt planned for anytime soon.

Mice?! At least you weren't attacked and it seems like no real harm was done, other than a time-consuming PITA situation. House insulation sucks too, soooo itchy. The same thing happened to the passenger window on my vette. Motor rusts up where the magnets contact and the window doesn't move. It's very common on the C5's. Screw driver and a hard hammer hit on the bolts that hold the motor while holding the down button and she moved right down!

Maintenance is all a part of the fun my friend. If you have a trusted friend local, have them start it up every few weeks. Tends to save lots of headaches. An object in motion tends to stay in motion. Glad you got to drive her for a bit though! I'm sure next time will be better :thumb:

I need to ask... What type of custimization would you do? IMO an NSX shouldn't be customized, updated to the current times by subtle modifications that can be easily reversed.

I need to ask... What type of custimization would you do? IMO an NSX shouldn't be customized, updated to the current times by subtle modifications that can be easily reversed.

Well don't get me wrong I love nothing other than seeing a completely OEM refurbished car, matter of fact the other day I was flipping out because I found a untouched Supra in my little Oklahoma town sitting at Chilli's. I.E. NSX, GTR, Supra ect.
But if I were to buy one I would make it a one of a kind, basically a race car race seats and all the little things like steering wheel, aggressive wheels, boost it(probably turbo), build the engine and anything else that came to mind during it.

So I finally got the bill from Acura, $240 later to get the seals replaced. I really wish there was an NSX spec mechanic local to the Maritimes that I can take it too. I've had enough with the Stealership.

In other news, the NSX is tucked away during the Cold Nova Scotia Winter. Not sure when it will be driven again.

Nice work from your detail guy. Anyone that can work wonders like that on a black car is worth the money. Car looks beautiful. I always liked those nsx's. I bet its a blast to drive

Yup. The ONE time I park it in the street, it gets slammed from behind by a drunk driver. Totaled the shit out of it. I'm fine, but miss that damn car. Don't want to build another though, thinking of going with american muscle. Might get a viper or vette and boost it.

NSX has been tucked away for a while now. I am still living in Germany and the NSX is back home in Canada. I have a year and a half left then I will get her back.

I did make it home in Sept for unfortunate reasons. But I was able to put close to 1000 miles on the NSX while I was there.

I ordered new non oem coils and oem plugs. My friends installed them prior to me returning home and it took care of the miss problem. Still have the TCS and ABS lights on and at times when cold the car went into limp mode, but I think that is due to bad o2 sensors. I have new ones but I want to wait to install them when I move home, drop the motor, clean the engine bay up and install my headers.

Car drove good while I was home. Do you still have any parts from your NSX Spoolin_VTEC?

Joe, why did you move to Germany? I don't think I ever knew the reason(s). As for going back to Canadaland for unfortunate reasons, I hope all is well with family and everything turned out okay. Following you on social media, everyone in your family looks happy, your daughter is growing up so fast! And your son, very cool picture with you and your father vs you and your son! Looking forward to those days myself, give it a few years lol.

A military posting got me to Germany. Only posting availible to my trade outside of Canada, and there are only 3 positions here. So I was very lucky to get selected. We are here for 4 years total. 1 1/2 years left until we are posted back home.

We had to go back to a funeral, its a unfortuante reason to have a family reunion but it was great seeing all the family together.

Thanks for the family compliments. We are definately enjoying living and traveling in europe. Kids are growing up way to fast.

I built a custom Cozy Coupe for my daughter which she loves and compairs it to "Daddy's Racecar (NSX)" lol.

I take her for drives in the Del Sol and she loves cruising, so when I get home I am sure she will be wrenching right beside me.

The NSX has either 94k or 96k miles now.

I am debating on what car to get for a daily when I move home. I want a 4 door fun car. Debating between 07-08 TL-S, WRX, Merc, BMW.. I dunno. I still have time to mull it over. I still want to bring the X5 home, but it has to be 15 years in order to import it back into Canada, and when we move home it will only be 14.4 years old. So I may have to wait the 8 months before getting it shipped back. We will see.

Sorry for your loss Joey, I had no idea. God bless. I'd suggest against the 07-08 TL-S simply due to the lack of power you can make. WRX/STI is sure fun and will keep you holding back with much modding after a tune. The transmissions, unless they've changed with 2016, are supposedly glass after 400awtq. X5 would be nice to bring back though! Is it RHD?

Also, please post pics of said cozy coupe! I don't even know what that is. Time for Google!

Whats up guys?

Its been a while since ive checked into see the builds going on and to update my page.

The car has been sitting comfortably all winter, I did make an uneeded purchase however. I picked up a pair of Mint Recaro SR3 ITR seats in red. They too are being stored until we move home next summer. Hopefully east coast but I doubt I can get 3 postings to the east, fingers crossed.

Onto the cozy coupe. It is basically a self propelled push car where the kid can sit and and Fred Flinstone it around the yard. I slammed it on its face, added a wide body kit to and a Ferrari steering wheels. I had to add a push bar to the rear as Flinstoning it is now out of the question.

My daughter loves it and soon my son will be big enough to crawl into it.

Figure after a year plus I should update the thread.

In August I will be returning to the same base that I was at prior to moving to Europe. SO that means that I do not have far to travel to pick up the NSX. Something like 50 days before I get to drive it, so I am excited for that.

After settling into the new house I will put the NSX up on stands and do a through inspection of all components. After sitting still off/on for 4 years I am sure there is something that will need to be addressed.

First things first, I need to send off the CCU to get re-soldered as I have zero climate control. The CCU is a weak part on the older NSXs and over time the solders crack.

The headers/o2 sensors still need to go on, rear valance as well.

I purchased a slightly used Stoptech rear BBK from Cody @ LoveFab but still need to find the ebrake brackets first before installing. Fronts are red, and rears are black.

I need to find a pair of Bride seat rails in order to install the DC2R seats. Interior leather pieces need to either be redyed or replaced with the proper color.

Fender repair and front end respray over the winter I am hoping.

I also am bringing back the Del Sol I have here which will be the daily for myself while the NSX is put up.

Welcome back! Quite the update. Seems like a strong list and a good mindset going in to check on the car. Keep us updated!
