Ill agree, it took a looooooooooooooooooong time and some sore fingers to get them done. My buddy did his 67mmturbo, rad, catchcan and hasport mounts... they came out like amirror finish. TOO much time on his hands haha

Thanks! :thumb:

diptech.com i believe. I know im new here, but all winter i usually work on my car fairly bit. I have access to a full mechanic shop at nights with my friend. Hes always been a BIG na k series guy, building a bunch k24/k20 cars, but i converted him to the darkside. Long story short, this car was multicoloured and as of wedneday at 8am we got this car bare frame from paint. 36 hours later, 8 guys working none stop we came out with this.

Nice, what numbers are you planning on putting down? Make sure you have your injector data flow sheet for your tuner. I have the FIC 1000's (same as ID) and they're great. I'll need a return setup this year though.

boosted_teg
04-20-2011, 01:26 AM
Yup got the sheet and its already been implemented in kpro. I try and do a lot of the tuning myself along with the tuner. Learning to do my own stuff makes having the car that much moreenjoyable.

As for numbers, id LIKE to see 450 on "low" boost, and 550 on "high" boost with c16. whatever it will take to hit a 10.99 :P

boosted_teg
04-20-2011, 01:28 AM
I had used precision 1000cc injectors with a honda resistor box, but something was funny with the car. didnt like ti idle sometimes and would run rich randomly. Imthinking one of the injectors were getting stuck open. Regardless, i wanted to ditch the resistor box and injectors in favor of the ID1000.

Im hoping id1000, walbroh 255 in tank, and a walbroh 255 inline with 6an line will be good enough for my power. All this will be set at a 65psi base fuel

I was looking at the pics, and I was thinking to myself "that car looks familliar" Then I seen the pic with your plate. Looks great man. Want some advice on the heat wrap? I learned that hard way, I guess your supposed to soak the heat wrap and then wrap the manifold. It took me about a roll and a half of the 1x50 to do my mani, DT, and DP.

hmm really? i didnt know you had to do that with the this heat wrap. Thanks! i have 2 x 50 and it took quite a bit for the dumptube already :(

I've only got to drive mine once while tweaking the last bit of tuning, but it was nice to get behind the wheel again. You don't have to do it but I was told it helps a lot. The wart heat wrap will hold tighter to the runners and once you turn the car on it will dry up and be even tighter.

They seem to be pricy when buying online. I buy them local , stainless with washers, we spent little over 130 bucks for all of them. And when i mean all, i mean, all tranny casing, timing chain cover, all pulley bolts, intake, exaust, coil pack, vtec holder, oil pan, shifter cable bracket, cam sensors, etc. every 10mm, 12mm 14mm was changed over. The only ones we havent bought, were the mounts. They didnt have any, and we have to order them from boltboys.com

As for springs/retainers, i used type r dual valve springs and retainers. ill eventually upgrade to supertech set up, cheap and simple

small update. Its been a crazy summer and me working nights and a shit load of overtime has been keeping me away from my car.

but i had it on the dyno for a few pulls just to see where it stood.

8 psi ( not creep thanks to boost/rpm), 13 timing in boost = 350whp and 272 trq.

Thats where i stood last year with my crappy tsx cams, prb manifold, 19 timing and 60-1 turbo.

Last night i messed around a little more. Pushed the timing up some ( 16, no knocks) and boost to 11.2psi. Spools 10psi by 4900rpm and holds to redline. All i can say its a handful. I was pretty impressed at the spool for a 6265 BB .82 exaust. My 60-1 was similar to this.

After talking to turbospoolin , i want to push it to 20-24 psi on the dyno and see what it does.

after some work, i just started to get fustrated of the car. Car worked good, but there was more in it. I emailed Joseph aka Magnesium from clubrsx, and after 2 days of working on the maps, i can say im a believer with e tuning. Its night and day difference. Just at 16psi the car moves more then i could imagine. The car drives around as if it was a stock car, no hicups no nothing, and all this on open loop (stock o2 is bad, using AEM)

Graph will come as soon as hes done. Shooting for 18psi (which he believes would be over 500whp) and i believe it.:thefinger:

Im not sure what power its at, i know its in the 400 range, just dont know exactly. Waiting back to hear from a local dyno to get some runs in for a dyno sheet.

The only thing holding the car back right now is our fuel and my 2.6" catback exaust. 91 octane in canada is like 87 in the states. Its crap. Maybe at the end of the year i'll get the Magnesium to do some tuning on the dyno with c16/q16 for 22-25psi.

Hit the dyno.

We did 3rd gear pulls, so i wouldnt hurt the tranny. Never know but i want it to last for a bit. It would still have some wheel spin, but it made decent numbers.

443whp 300trq (which on the back of the sheet it reads 311trq) @ 17psi. I was hoping for little bit more, but i have a 2.5" catback exaust and only reved it ro 8000rpm (not 8600)

They do good work. theres one that just started doing the whole dipping stuff.

doubt it'll hit 10s,at least not with a lot of seat time and a better track. Cars are running 130-135 mph running 10.8 at best, even some running 128mph only grabbing 11.8s.

Im happy with it so far. Its fun to drive. I put on 550km/week on this through out the summer months.

i pulled 126mph at 443 hp. Does that seem to be right ? some cars here are on race fuel running 500 pulling only couple mph more then me.

My tranny has a whine to it :ohnoes: I think the end is near, which why i didnt run slicks. :nervous:

Diptech really does do awesome work. As for hitting 10's, you definitely can with slicks, but seat time and track condition are definitely important factors. Pulling 126mph with 443whp is awesome, mainly because your car is crazy light. Probably ~2,000 lbs right? And Tranny whine is scary, mine is doing that in 1st gear from running radials at the track :nervous: If your tranny goes, what is your next step?

boosted_teg
09-08-2011, 01:51 AM
My car is stock weight, im gussing 2600 lbs with me in it. I was told since i was spinning 1-2 and most 3, i was gaining a lot of mph? I dont know how true that is. My guess is when i was on the dyno and was doing my 3rd gear pulls (spinning in 3rd aftter 6500) i might've actually gained some more HP if i had done it in 4th.

Our tracks are nothing like tracks you guys have. I was reading guys running 11s on street tires with 125-128mph. Thats just crazy!

My next step is slicks, wheels and skinnies. Theres a complete set up not to far away for 900 canadian.
I'll add some race fuel or meth, see what 20 psi will net with more aggressive timing. So far its set at 13 timing at 17 psi.

As for tranny, im hoping nothing happens. If it does, ill buy another base/ep3 tranny and lsd(unless i get some crazy money tree to grow, then id get dog box synchro 3-4 gear)

:)

It's fun little car now

Fun little car is definitely one way to put it. Lol. I was thinking of using OEM 1-2, PPG or albins 3-4, TSX 5-6. Not sure of ratios, but FWIK, they should work together. As for the mph thing, yea your MPH shot up from spinning, but I think it would be that way either way. Can't wait to see what slicks and skinnies will bring!

sam here. PPG would definetly ease your mind about breaking the tranny. What are you running for LSD?

Ya i think the same. When i got some grip my half track hit 93mph and end track 125.8 (which is my highest mph)
When i complete spun 3rd i trapped 89 mph and 124.5. Time will tell. My trap speed will also vary with the size of slicks

Maybe shes making more then 443whp :P

Thats what I was thinking, to keep cost down. OEM 1-2, PPG or albin 3-4, and TSX 5-6. Maybe OEM 5 and TSX 6. Less than 3k for the whole set though, soo worth it though. Cheaper than the 1-4 albins setup being 4600 :sigh: I'm running OEM LSD in the Si, not sure what spoolin is running though. And It might be making 443whp, but you're pretty light. well after a long weekend in New York and New Jersey watching some 8-9 second cars running in Outlaw and SFWD class, it gave me motivation again. I wish our ttracks were prepped like the NHRA track. Damn, 128mph is running well into the 10s!!

heres some pics. new slicks, rear lip,and walbroh pump. I also picked up a k teller exaust with resonator and magnaflow muffler. Comparing this to my current exaust, id be lucky if my exaust now is 2.5"

Next weekend is the last event. I inherited a 3rd gear grind, so i got some gm synchromesh to see if it'll help for the weekend. I want to dip in the 11s for sure.

That's the new 400lph fuel pump? Looks awesome, wonder how it will fit inside the tank. Slicks & skinnies look awesome, and what do you mean by the exhaust statement - if your new exhaust is even 2.5" or the old one?

i have enough piping to make it fit.

I meant my old one, its no wheres near this size in diameter. I think im going to see a decent power increase with the exaust. At 17psi i should be near the 480-500 mark. Id be happy with 450. 7 more whp with new exaust seems doable

so i got it installed. 3" with just a magnaflow muffler. Well it sounds liek a wrx now and it spools real nice. I was hitting boost cut ar 4500rpm (19psi) when before it be 5500 rpm if that. so i need to retune and get my boost controller re done.

im excited! Going to try and hit the dyno after i get it retuned to see the difference

I have a 6262 on a k24a2 and it made 484 @ 14 psi, you should have no problem making the numbers you're talking about with that amount of boost.

Ah ok Andy. I know our gas here sucks, so timing is limited. If we had 93 or if i had meth im sure 500 would be in the ballpark at 18psi.

you know, the exaust is loud. it gave me a headache yesturday from the vibration, noise and smell :P I might have to throw in a resonator

boosted_teg
10-17-2011, 11:12 AM
I also installed the new walbro pump. It was fairly easy to do, although i was nervous that it wouldnt fit back in the opening of the tank because the base of the pump is much larger. After some twisting and turning, it went in. Im fairly impressed at how quiet it is compared to the 255lph. I can barely hear it.

Decided i wanted power steering on my k swap. Dont think anyone around here has done it, so today i picked up a mint 02 rsx pump (8000km) and an rsx type s power steering high pressure line. Ordered a Hayden cooler and 3/8" line on ebay. Tommorow ill pick up a belt and reservoir, hopefully everything works out. Im guessing my power steering rack is shot after having it looped for 3 years

Ya i read about the blower pulley, but they cost almost 150 USplus shipping for them (from what ive found anyways) I'll try the stock pump pulley and go from there. Im debating finding a plug and hooking up the sensor on the power steering line. It acts as a boost of power so your rpms dont drop while you turn (at a stop maybe?)

next venture would be AC again. Thatts going to be more of a challenge.

I'lltake care of the high pressure line looking so crappy. Might polish it to match the manifold.

Its nice to have power steering again. I have a leak, im not sure if its the high pressure line leaking at the threaded part, or if its leaking out of the inner tie rod dust boot. It was too late to check and getting chilly out :madd:

boosted_teg
10-21-2011, 01:25 AM
I just read some info online. There is a how too i read and it explained that an 02-04 line would fit, and you need to bend and twist to your liking. As for the leak, my reservoir hasnt gone down, so im thinking it was excess from when it first leaked at the fitting (my dumbass didnt tighten the fitting enough :P)

Right now im getting a retune done. Its hitting boost cut WAY sooner then before and takes A LOT less work from the boost controller.

boosted_teg
10-22-2011, 12:25 AM
the use of the boost control helps out with the spool versus using the spring. We got it full open to 4500rpm, then boost control turns down and maintains 18psi to redline, helping out with boost creep.

ill try have videos one day :P

Spoolin_VTEC
10-25-2011, 11:34 AM
So you had creep with just wastegate spring? How bad? Glad it pulls hard at 18psi, especially on a big turbo like that.

Definitely get videos one day soon haha

boosted_teg
10-26-2011, 01:00 AM
Last year on my 60-1 and 44mm, 8 psi spring would creep up to 13. Now on a 10psi spring,it would creep to 15-16, especially after 7000rpm. The wastegate design on this manifold isnt the greatest, it should of had a "tear drop" cut and welded on. Probably doesnt help that my dumptube is about 3 feet long. :P

18-19 feels pretty good, especially after 4800rpm. Theres ZERO traction from 100km/h to 190km/h in third (which isnt fun at all, cool, but not fun)

I got a few videos, but they are too dark. Trying to get some for the video thats being edited for the site.

This winter the only upgrades motor wise is a 70mm TB matched to the rbc, new synchros/3rd gear, new clutch and an LSD. The rest is cosmetics. Recaros, lip kit, cf spoon lip and reclear my hood/trunk.

:)

Didnt have time to go back. We have seasonal plates here (so we dont have to runa front plate) and its only good until the end of october. With the new exaust, it threw off everything, especially boost. It came on sooner, and we had a hard time to control the boost from creeping. As we left it, it was hitting 20psi by 7700 rpm and i ran out of time. Come spring im booking a day at the dyno. Its pretty useless trying to grab a good pull when it'll just spin until 189km/h @8600rpm (dont feel like going faster then that), so dyno it is.

Im certain i freed up a lot more power then i expected. my turbo at 17-18psi should be roughly in the higher 400s on 91octane.

so shes a sleep for winter. I started gartthering a few things.

KMS dual valve springs and retainers along with new viton valve seals. Exact same specs as Supertechs.

As for winter upgrades:

3rd gear + synchros
ceramic coat manifold
t1 catchcan
8 point roll cage

That should hold me over.

I'm hoping for mid to high 400s next year on pump, and 550 -600 on c16. We'll see how well the motor holds up. Id love tto crack the 10 second barier, no K around has. (well besides a crazy built NA k24/k20 crx that runs high 10s)

I'm running meth because our gas here is 91 octane AT BEST. I dont want to go spend a ton of mponey all the time putting race fuel in every time i go to the track.

I picked up a valve spring compressor the other night. Helped strip down a b series head, and it worked woonders. Next is to pull the motor (if i hada garage) and strip the head.

Id just like to change it up. had same rims for 3 years now, and they'd look good on the GFs ek (which we already started collecting parts for a k24 swap on hers)

Im impressed my clutch held up. ACT 6 puck heavy duty pressure plate. Its not slipping but its going to eventually. Might as well change it out while everythings apart. I was really set on CC stage 4 6 puck sprung, but the torque rating is at 350. Super single is good for 600, twin 800.

Yaaaa, i didnt got with it after all. I dont plan making more then 500, 550 max. so i opted for CC stage 5 single non sprung clutch. So for 300 on the clutch i picked up a skunk2 70mm TB.

Also i tore out the motor today, no pictures. Im stripping it down tommorow so i should have some pictures. Hopefully have the head dismantled and ready to be sent to get cleaned up

Ah ok i get what you mean now ;) Once the motor is in and everythign back together, it should look pretty damn good. Lets just hope the flat valves, meth kit and few other goodies push it over 500whp on same boost level.

I dealt with Norris proyontoo Racing with all my supertech products. He's been hands down one of the best companies ive dealt with.

Ya im thinking about it. Ive always wanted to get into something little comfier and higher class.... BMW e46 m3. Theres been quite a few ive found lately, that if i didnt have my car in pieces, we'd of gone and bought one. Here's the one i saw in ohio for sale. 20k obo

20k obo

GF doesnt want me to sell the car and just pick one up this summer. My car doesnt owe me nothing, everythings paid for (which is a bonus)

Beemer looks nice, but it's an entirely different care. Much more torque, more of a racecar feel with RWD, and a HPF turbo kit is real pricey. Just sayin :vtec: And not having to make payments is a big part as well, IMO the teg is unique and well-built. I say stick with it, but that's just my :2c:

I'm sure you'll have great results with the new motor, but don't forget you'll need more boost to hit the same amount of power you used to hit because of lower compression. But, your meth kit and flux capacitor should help.

And Norris is definitely a great dude to deal with, I bought a wastegate from him and he has great customer service, as he is a customer himself.

I raised the compression this time from my old 9.8cp, also went from a 2 1/4 exaust to a 3". Not to mention running 13-14 degrees timing on 91 and this can now be tweaked some more with meth :) Im pretty confident 18psi should be close to 480-500 this time around. It's also going to be tuned on the dyno, not street tuned like last summer. Dont forget flux capacitor haha, thats another 10

we'll see what happens. im still driving it and tuning it. still works like it did and doesnt smoke all the time. Precision says 4-500 to replace the seal, unless the whole catridge is shot, then its 1439us. haha

I dont know if theres any wiring gurus on here, but my battery voltage in kpro fluctuates a lot.. between 13-14.4 all the time. up and down up and down.

now i checked the battery, fuse box terminals, and all 4 wires comming out of the altenator plug, they all read 14+ constant. I even tested the connector going into the ecu, and the alt wire (b10) reads 14.25. So why does kpro fluctuate so much?

boosted_teg
06-29-2012, 02:30 AM
so after some work on the car, i mightve found my problem with the retarded amoutn of boost creep. previously with the 10-11psi spring int he gate, after 7200 rpm it would instantly creep to 23 (boost cut). This is with the EBC hooked up properly and being used to control the creep i had (previous year).

so i had a Tial 38mvs gate lined up, and was going to get it welded on.

well, i changed my push lock fitting on the gate and on the turbo housing. Hooked up a line direct, bypassing the EBC. To my relief, i hit 19psi by 8600 rpm. :)

Im happy now. Can finally get it tuned up and thrown on the dyno, more importantly get some track times.

Oh and for the Kpro voltage fluctuation, i fixed that. The oem wideband sensor was sharing its power from the relay with the power of the ecu. The swap harness had it wired up wrong. I'd disconnect the O2 relay, voila, 14-14.5 volts constant. :)

Also purchased a set of neogen tires. Cheap and supposibly half decent :)

well good new and bad news.

Good news first: Boost creep was minimized. I replaced all my pushlocks with a higher grade, same with the line and voila. was hitting 16 psi and it was falling to 12.8 by 7000rpm (boost controller dropped the boost). So i was pretty excited.

Bad news: Took one last drive tonight to see if it hold up in 4th. Held 15lbs to 8600rpm... then cruised along, pulled off the highway to go home and it was running on 3 cylinders. Air fuel in boost was holding 11.9-12.1 ( aem wideband) so either the injector quit working or the sensor is bad. There's Lots and lots of smoke pouring out of my catchcan and dipstick. Vitals on Kpro showed perfect. 190 degree temperature, -21.5 vacuum at idle, 13.9afr at idle. So what gives? Number 2 spark plug is missing the electrode, so it got pretty hot. My guess, metled a hole in the piston or valve.

Oh well. Ill take the head off next week sometime and post some pictures. :P

Ya need to get hang of the half track. my 1.9 60 foots arent great, they should be 1.7 at this track. Even second gear with the slicks i had some spinning happening which slowed down my 330.

It was a very hot day, over 100 degrees easy. When i got there, first two passes i was only hitting 15-16 psi, and my AFR was low 10s. So by the end my afr was mid 11s and we turned the boost up a few more to get it back at 18-19psi. After my 11.3 i started to get heat soak, my IAT were 130 and was too hot

Damn! Glad you're okay considering. That's all that matters. Oh, and that goldie's ok too. ;)

And that 1.8 makes some serious power! That's cool. C16 works well ey? No pun intended.

Ok, maybe a little mini pun.

I'm about to make a thread because I'm about to go insane. I having major boost creep issues with my car. How did you get your car to hold 12 psi? which spring do you have in your 44mm? I have a built k24 with a Bwr mani 44mm mvr with a gtx3582r. I just installed the 3 psi in my wastegate and 1st and 2nd gear is fine and than 3rd gear at upper rpms is still hitting the boost cut and its set at 18psi. smh!!! I have the 3 port but its not even hooked up at the moment. I can't get this car to hold wastegate pressure!! I need some help.
