Super late update (12/5/15)
Ruck has been done for quite some time now. I unveiled the scoot at the Boosted Life 2013 event in the summer, albeit unfinished. I worked on the bike more and went to Honda Day in Englishtown, NY with both my Si and Ruckus. Both won 1st place, which was a humbling feeling - especially since both were ~90% finished! Threw temp black paint on the bike, which was not the color I was planning on using. Did the trick though. On to the pics:

Well, I've been building this Ruckus for about two months now. She should be done in 4 weeks from now. I work on her once a week with RND RACING. It's a great process, however very time consuming. Hard work pays off, and I'm sure that this will.

Current teasers (6/13/13):

UPDATE: 5/5/13
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/8781/ruckus.jpg
So, obviously the jump from a modded 1000cc R1 to a 50cc Ruckus is as big of a jump as it sounds. But the Ruckus is so damn fun to ride that the tremendous power sacrifice is worth it. It's the modding and riding experience that gets you. With that said, I found a need for more power. Topping out at 42mph prevents me from going on highways and parkways, which is a pain because you can't cruise with anyone but a 50cc Ruckus. So I figured boost is the "dark side" of the k-series world. And a motor swap is the "dark side" of the Ruckus world. So...

I'm doing a GY6 150cc motor swap to replace the 50cc. I'll make sure to keep you all updated throughout this process, my goal is to be finished by the end of June!

Parts I have:
10x8 new rear wheel (need to sell)
10x3 new front NCY wheel (need to sell)
Full NCY front end kit
Mini headlight swap

GY6 Short Axle

Parts on the way:
GY6 Longcase (Rucksters)
12x8 3+5 4/110 DWT Rear Wheel

Mojo Weld-on GY6 Mount
Front Tire: Kenda K433 100/60/12
Rear Tire: Avon Viper 140/70/12
Password:JDM Drag Frame Brace (Chin Bone)

Parts I need:

11-pole stator (with harness)
Exhaust (Ti Akra)
Carburator (not sure which)
Intake (not sure which)

It's fun to drive, gets 120+mpg, and tops out at 42mph - for now. I plan on doing some minor mods, nothing crazy like a motor swap. Mainly using this to keep miles off my Si.

Mod List
1. GY6 Radiator Scoop Not Installed
2. Smoked LED R6 Taillight with Integrated Turn Signals Not Installed
3. Custom 125cc Pocket Bike Exhaust Removed for Engine Break-in
4. R1 Frame Slider Foot Pegs (FSFP)

R1 FSFP Sleeper Style

Exhaust First time around

Venom variator, loving it so far. I also drilled 4 holes in my CVT cover, because at 120 miles I had more dust than I wanted to have. Should help keep temperature down a bit, and keep some dust out.

I painted and installed my GY6 scoop, slightly melted it when I decided to put it in the toaster on low heat. Oh well, doesn't look bad.

Just bought a black GY6 air scoop last night. Fits onto my stock GET motor, basically helps air get to the radiator on the side of the motor to assist in cooling. Function > Form. Although it's gonna look awesome, lol.

And I also bought a smoked Yamaha R6 LED taillight with integrated turn signals. Can't wait to wire that up!

You'll love it. I wanna turbo it, but the stock GET engine wouldn't create 1psi of boost if it had to.

I'm 5'9 and currently 170. Lots of 200+ guys get em, but you gotta get a new variator if you wanna get some good top speed and acceleration. I love this thing!

Its just a stretched ruckus. There are various lengths, basically the motor mount is made to space the motor further back. My stretch for my mount is 12", and I can't wait to install over the winter.

And is it something that's difficult to do?

~250-300 beans. Very easy to do, as a scooter motor/tranny/rear wheel is essentially one piece. You can't stretch the swingarm like bikes do, so you space the motor back. The kit I bought needs to be welded together, which is why I bought it. Ran $125 with the extended shock arm. Allows for a really wide wheel and will sit perfectly center (or completely off if you mess up, lol).

Full upgraded front end for the Ruck. New NCY shocks, NCY 2-piston disc brake conversion, NCY floating disc wave rotor (will be sold and replaced with a different, nicer rotor), SS line, NCY master cylinder, black hardware for new lever and MC, and new 10" silver front wheel. Selling that front wheel for a 12"x3 front 5-spoker. Love it?

Probably a Poon floating wave rotor, gotta upgrade to that for the new wheel and hub adapter to mate with the new front end anyway. Ill try to grab a pic, its still gonna be a wave rotor tho, i love wave rotors!

Well, if you are going to be caught riding a scooter then the ruckus is definitely the coolest one out. I love the way they mod them all crazy but I have four bikes and the smallest is 1000cc. It must feel strange riding so low to the ground. I really would like to ride a tricked out one sometime. So many wheels, so little time...

question is...when are you going to boost it? If I didn't have so many projects I would buy one. I asked my wife if she would ride one and I guess no was the answer. Women, I asked her five times to go out to the garage and get an adjustable wrench and Philips screwdriver and it was like talking a foreign language. I even gave her the nut to go match to the wrench and she brought me five wrenches and none of them fit then the last time one big wrench. Swear she was a blonde. lol Moral of story is, never send a woman to do a man's job.

I originally wanted to, but it doesn't do anything realistically. Top speed is the same, realistically doesn't increase power enough to justify the amount you spend on it, basically it just decreases the life of your motor with nothing to show for. And that's if you do a 150cc GY6 swap.

_____________
UPDATE:

So, obviously the jump from a modded 1000cc R1 to a 50cc Ruckus is about as big of a jump as you can imagine. But the Ruckus is so damn fun to ride that the tremendous power sacrifice is worth it. It's the modding and riding experience that gets you. With that said, I found a need for more power. Topping out at 42 prevents me from going on highways and parkways, which is a pain because you can't cruise with anyone but a 50cc Ruckus. So...

I have a brand new GY6 150cc motor on the way to replace the 50cc. That will need a new wire harness, new stator, fuel pump, ignition, motor mount, literally everything. So, I figured why not. Bought a full front-end upgrade last year in preparation for this upgrade. Two piston caliper and wave rotor disc brakes up front to replace the sub-par stock drum brakes, stainless lines, new levers and master cylinder, lowered shocks, the works. I'll be upgrading to a 12x4 front wheel, and a 12x8 rear wheel. Gonna be great. I'll make sure to keep you all updated throughout this process, my goal is to be finished by the end of June!

Couldn't wait. Got some cool stuff done today. The big secret will be finished in two weeks. Today was fun and motivating, however very time consuming though.

RND Racing made a one-off gusset from scratch for the other side of the rear frame. We assessed, mocked, tacked, and welded the mojo mount. They came out great!

Decisions, decisions.

Harness came last night! This is literally the best harness one can buy. Utilizes the OEM electric fuel pump, instead of a vacuum pump for the GY6 swap. All other harnesses use a vacuum fuel pump which sends too much fuel to the carb, causing overfueling issues. You can add a fuel return, but why not just utilize the electric fuel pump that works without flaws? Waterproof connections, everything is heatwrapped, all connections will be soldered. :thumb:

That's where my mind goes after I think on money spent. My kz got my money that could have bought a new ZX14 with a nice brocks pipe and other accessories. That messes with my head at times. Lol

A ZX14R is too heavy for me. 365lbs my R1 weighed. Next, I would probably get a busa. They're really comfortable. I'd want a small 4-5" stretch, lowered, turbo kit, done. Ruckus is just so much more fun to mod man. I can't wait to work on it every Sunday, planning the day out a week ahead, gathering my own preference in parts, and a sick final design in mind. This will decimate all - after about $3k in overnight parts from Taiwan. ;)

Well, a busa is a completely different bike, but mainly I'd get that over a zx14 because I've always played with the thought of having a turbo busa. Nothing against a zx14, its a beautiful bike. Just always wanted to rock a busa :thumb: But cheers for 2 wheels!

Didn't get to a roller today. Hopefully next week it'll be roller ready. Got a decent amount of stuff done today though. Mounted the front tire on the front wheel, swapped long axle for short axle and setup everything inside the tranny (which took a couple hours altogether), did a ton of measurements to line everything up 100%, got the front end ready, and now it's pretty much ready for the final welding of the rear frame to the mount and then the suspension setup.

The worst part is that the motor sits so far left because of the 12x8 fatty that an extension has to be welded onto the Mojo mount on the left side. All typical issues that come along with custom work. But it's all going to be well worth it in the end!

Needed to address that situation, so everything else got pushed back. Next week more will be done. Full roller without a doubt. Well, the Ruck is finished (for now) until the winter rebuild. Here's some pica I took today. The GY6 motor swap was a GREAT idea - the power, sound, the overall feel of the bike, everything. I'm very happy to have built this bike with my father - with custom pieces that we've made together that are on no other ruckus peroid. Custom suspension, spring rates, seat frame tabs - various things from small to large and in between. There has been a lot of hiccups throughout the build process, unfortunately. For example, i ordered a special 3-stage paint from the UK three months ago. It's an awesome color that was to be revealed at the event as a surprise to everyone. But, three body shops screwing me over during the week before the reveal. Two shops dropped out five days before the event, and the third said they would be finished without a doubt in two days. They had the parts for three days and didn't prep or paint them - and didn't tell me anything. Didn't answer phone calls for two days. Long story short, we hustled hard the day before the event, rattle canned the oarts they didn't touch, and barely made it. In the end, I'm very happy, and I certainly thank my father very much for his help and dedication. And staying up for two days straight with me to finish the bike in time for it's reveal at Boosted Life last weekend. So, I guess this would qualify for the "Built, not bought" phrase in nearly every way. So, here are some pics!

Very nice. So, I am very new to the whole ruckus scene. How fast does your scoot go now with the swap? I understand about the mod bug. Getting a busa and modding like you did here would break the bank.

Closeups of the color would be cool.
I'm in same boat with my bike. I think they forgot about me. This weekend I'm going to pick up my pieces if they haven't started yet. All summer since before I started my rotrex project. No calls, I emailed even. No response. Yeah, total bs. Worse than waiting on all in fab to finish pieces.
As this is an educational moment would you share the comparison, contrast stock vs modded engine. The difference in feel between stretched. The mods that are eye candy vs mods that are necessary and functional.

Once again, I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to make that meet and that I missed getting to meet all of you guys at the meet and not be able to see that badass ruckus. GREAT JOB MAN.

First, thank you very much. I appreciate that! I'll go in order of your post: scoot will hit around 70-75mph with the current setup after tuning (carbureted). A busa with this type of modding would smash the bank without a doubt. Color is satin black (which isn't what I planned at all and is only temporary), I'll take some pics tomorrow when I take her to work for the first time in a year.
Damn, I hate shops!! Best of luck to you with that man.
Stock 50cc vs GY6 150cc: Night and Day. Stock 50cc motor had a variator and weights that I tuned to my liking and a new CDI with 4* ignition advancement and no rev limiter. No engine performance mods because I knew I'd switch. Even with them, it's much, much, much better to just do the GY6 swap. Even though this had a full exhaust, intake, hugh jass velocity stack, much larger jets, a 30mm performance carb, CDI and whatnot, it's still a hell of a bike. 50cc: 4.2hp. My 150cc GY6 setup: 15-16hp. And thats a stock internal motor. Wait till the winter. Got plans for 30hp ;)

As for the stretch, it's cool. Much lower now with full suspension and stretch, turns don't suck but I could do figure 8's with a stock ruckus ona side street. This can just make a U turn curb to curb. I don't have many eye candy mods honestly. Actually, I don't think I really even have any. Well, my front fender is one, but it's not on. I'd have to think about that one.

If you (or anyone) have any other questions, feel free to ask. I love this bike. Crazy thing is, EVERYONE looks at it. At every light, everyone's staring at me/it. People are constantly asking me about it. Now I feel how people in exotics feel, but even better bc it's all custom and my hard work with my father - can't buy that (unless I sell the Ruck, and that's never happening. And I mean never)

She looks soo good dude!

Well, we finally fixed the suspension. The springs were too soft for the location and load, so we made 'spacers' to fit a shorter drag racing springs. Theyre stiff and awesome. No more scraping here!

The downfall is that I left for a test ride with something and came back without it. See if you can figure it out.
