I know this isn't a K20 but I'm very good friends with Si speed 317 and I wanted to share my build with some fellow car enthusiasts!

First off I'll give you guys some background information on the car. It's a 1993 Audi S4. Stock it's got a AAN 2.2 Turbo 5 cylinder with over 220HP. In its European version the RS2 it offered over 300hp and this was back in the early 1990's. Being the huge Audi fanatic I am when I saw this 1993 S4 on eBay for 10k in perfect shape I had to have it. It was in fantastic shape. Most people in the USA have no idea this car even exists but in Europe this motor has been pushed over 1000 all wheel horsepower numerous times. This is what I wanted :turbohug: a sleeper. A 4,000lb luxurious all wheel drive monster.. So the build began! It's not complete yet but the assembly is coming soon..

Here is a list of parts this far:
JE Forged Pistons
Integrated Engineering Rods
Titanium valves
Solid lifters
Bored, honed, blueprinted
Polished crank
Titanium retainers
All new gaskets and hardware
2.3L Euro bottom end
Fully build head
RS2 OEM manifold
GT3076R K26 Turbo kit @35psi
VEMS standalone ECU
Bosch 044 Fuel pump
830CC injectors
High output LS2 coilpacks
Stromung full exhaust
Apikol front mount intercooler
All derlin mounts
Stock 5 speed with spec stage 5+ clutch and 034 aluminum flywheel
Stock airbox
Brembo brakes all around
Stock B5 S4 wheels with spacers and 225 tires :D
7a cams

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I'll post more when it pops up in my head.

Overall this setup with is limited by the Turbo and manifold should be good for over 500whp/550wtq on 93. Swap out the manifold and bolt up a billet 35r I should easily break the 800whp mark. Best part is the powertrain is bullet proof.. 5k all wheel drive launches all day and these cars take it hard core. And oh yeah my redline is 9k...

Here's a video of a buddy of mines car. I believe his last dyno at 5,000 feet without correction was 437whp with a similar setup on low boost..

That's awesome man! Very old school, definitely never seen one of these before. And an inline 5-cylinder turbo is pretty awesome too. And it has projector headlights - in 1993. My questions are: Do you think just one 044 is strong enough? And why limit yourself by manifold and turbo when you can get the right manifold and turbo, and just change boost/tuning? Seems like a money saver IMO. Also, a GT35R doesn't hold up to 800whp, not that I've ever seen. They're rated to ~650whp. And the GTX35R is almost 700whp. Not that that's not a lot, but you should be looking into a different turbo IMHO. Just my :2c:

Thanks for the kind words man! Reason for picking this turbo and manifold is because I feel 500whp is a good starting point for the car. As things slowly break I will replace them with stronger parts. Once I do axles, drive shaft and a a 6 speed swap I'm going balls out 800-1000whp on pump. There are actually a lot of guys in Europe close to 1000 crank horsepower on billet 35r. These motors are capable of insaane boost levels 40psi+. A stock turbo stock motor car with a tune and exhaust can spike 30psi for example

It's also got a 10 disk cd changer, heated front and rear seats, carbon fiber intrior trim, a trip odometer, built in phone, memory seats and hids all stock in 1993. Not to mention locking front and rear diffs.. Truly a car way ahead of it's time..

that 5cyl is awesome. I know it's completely different but I got to work on a 5cyl Acura Vigor and it just sounded awesome! That should be a fun awesome build

Petey boy! Glad you found your way over here and signed up bro, love the S4 build. I can't wait until it's done, is that kid from PA definitely going to help you?

Thanks guys and yes that 5 cylinder sound is great :D

Dan, I think so. He said he's down to help I should have a few more hands and perhaps Chris to help me put the tranny back in.

I'm actually using a stock euro manifold which is cast tubular. They make some crazy manifolds but I wanted to stick to something, reliable, clean and proven. 600hp won't be a problem with this manifold flow wise and it looks 100% like the stock one..

Post up a pic, I would love to see what it looks like. Tubular cast sounds interesting. Here's the type of manifold we typically run:

Not as nice as that manifold posted above! But here is mine, doesn't look like anything special but flows for very high hp and high boost!

Better be great for high boost - there are 16 manifold bolts and we only have 5! :rotfl: Wastegate port seems good for no creep also.

And it might not be as nice as the aftermarket Full-Race/Peakboost/All-In Fab manifolds, but your car is a 1993 and that's your OEM manifold. Here's a 2008 Acura RDX OEM turbo manifold:

Audi wins that one hands down - even to a blind person. Lmao. Looks great bro, now tell everyone the awesome engine builder situation

Thanks for the compliments Dan! Well anyways I'll give you guys a brief overview of what's going on with my engine builder. First of all the guy has had to motor for over 7 months when he promised it back in 6 weeks. He keeps blaming it the machine shop but to me that's not an excuse that's valid. Well after all this time I'm finally supposed to get my motor back around next week. We agreed upon a certain number around $3,500.00 for the motor build and i supplied $5,000 worth of parts. Shortly after he starts saying it could cost $7,000.00. When i start showing how upset i am he started to stutter and tell me how it could be a lot cheaper. I am not happy with the situation and i was planning on using this guy for my buddies motor build as well as my transmission build and some paint work on the car. I don't even know at this point. I really liked these guys and they seemed like cool dudes i just hope it all works out as planned. Praying it all works out as planned...

Wow, wtf is this dude's problem? Stories like this make me scared to get my motor built when the time comes. I feel like I'll be ****ed out of a motor or it will take a lifetime. What's the current status?

Spoke to him today, apparently it'll be ready Friday. I highly doubt that but we'll see. I'll keep you all posted either way. Wish me luck!

This is why we have a reviews section on the forum - so others can learn about shops that do things like this. Sorry to hear your unfortunate situation, I hope it all turns out well. If the issue continues, please contact me and I will make sure it get's set straight. Also, please post this up in the Business Review section of the forum. If it doesn't work out, you could always go with a boosted K-series setup - I hear they make great power, but they're no inline 5 :rotfl:

Congrats on being the only German boosted guy on the forum :thumb:
