This is a thread for all the turbo rsx. I am currently breaking in my engine and seems like the oil pressure might be low at idle and wot.. wanting others to chime in on what their oil pressure is at idle and wot to get an idea of what it should be at or why mine is so low. (This is a psi with engine temp at 188deg. Doesnt go over 200deg)

So... After about 15 min of driving my oil pressure is at 12-17 PSI at idle (1020 rpm) and at WOT only goes up to 65-75psi... cruising at around 3k rpm right around 50-55psi.

Id like to see some numbers of other turbo owners that are using the aem oil pressure gauge or something equivalent.

Also. Oil pressure gauge was on the oil sandwich and just switched the oem and aem to see if it would read differently on the block and no change.

K20z1 motor with 10w30 oil for break in.

Thanks!

You should snag a picture at idle and at wot and send em to me.

my oil pressure is higher. I'm at around 30psi idle, 60's driving, and 80-90's boosting

And thats what ive heard. Your on the stock oil pump as well right?

Anyone know if there is a pressure difference between k24 and k20s. Idk what would cause the oil pressure to be lower? Checked the clearances on the oil pump when I put it together and everything checked out good. Bearing clearances were around .002 when installed.

What type and weight oil is everyone using?

Ya. I am just using 10w30 for another 300 miles until I reach 1500 miles then switching to mobil1 5w30.

A common consensus is to use the 0W40 Mobil 1 Synthetic (European formula) or Castrol of the same. Those euro fomulas are a hot item :thumb: My06_types

Sounds like a good plan. Admin makes a good point. I use 0W40 too. Mobil1 Euro formula
