This looks excellent, nice top notch parts here :thumb:

I assume you are using the new FSR JE pistons? I have those in my block now as well, 86mm 10:1, I hope they do well for me, I only have about 500 miles on the block atm. Also, how does your fuel system work? Does the walbro sit in the stock fuel tank and pump fuel to the 2.3l surge tank? And that surge tank has the 2 bosch pumps? And then that feeds up to the rail?

Thanks! Want to compete with the best gotta buy the best. Lol

Ya that's exactly how it's hooked up now.

Walbro feeds the surge tank then bosch's feed the engine and the return line goes back to the surge tank then the surge tank back the the fuel tank. So hopefully no problems with lean cut...

Ahahahaha. You guys are hilarious! It's just a half ass' d engine bay I did in the garage.

Not an auto body guy by any means and I hate sanding 1000x more now thanks to that.

I always look at everyone's build thinking I need to do something different.. I finished my intake manifold and don't really like the outcome. I will post some pics of it later...

also. Spaz quick question...

HR TB.. what did you do with the extra hole on the throttle body next to map sensor? Came with plugs but done fit snug and have a thread hole in the center..

Also I guess you can't take the cruise cable throttle off the tb huh? The bracket comes off so I figured you could remove the throttle part but seems not possible..

Now... who has installed an efr turbo or turbo that is water cooled.?.

Where are the coolant lines suppose to be routed to?

Sweet, the water lines would have came out the hard line that came out the thermostat housing.

It would've had 2 ports for coolant.

Hmm actually looks like the k tuned won't help at all and doesn't have a location for the heater hose to the upper radiator housing..

How would one hook those up.. it's two hoses. So I'm guessing one in and one out...

HR TB.. what did you do with the extra hole on the throttle body next to map sensor? Came with plugs but done fit snug and have a thread hole in the center..

I have my coolant lines tapped into my throttle body coolant lines, you really can tap anywhere as long as you don't screw up the flow of the coolant around the car. Doesn't matter which side of the turbo is the feed, just an in and out.

Yea.. just figure it's gotta be there for a reason so I might as well run it how it was intended for warranty and reliability sake..
I would definitely run them, turbo was designed for them to be in place, and it allows you to never need to let the car idle before shutting off, it's nice.

I have a quick question and was wanting the opinion from some of the turbo gurus. What wastegate spring pressure do you most use and what would be best for 550 whp on pump and 750whp on c16?

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af278/my06_types/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-05-10-15-51-06_zpsfpeghcbb.png (http://s1015.photobucket.com/user/my06_types/media/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2014-05-10-15-51-06_zpsfpeghcbb.png.html)

IMO the best spring to use is the lowest possible, so 3-4 psi depending on the size of your gate. This will allow you to have traction in first on the street and with a 4 port solenoid you can still make 30 psi if you want to.

Bays coming along nicely there, not much left I see till a startup.

Yea they are dual 44mm tial MVR wastegates. Possibly be pushing more than 30ps. Might go for .6 spring since I probably won't be lower than 10 psi in first.

Are you running boost by gear? IF so what psi are you running in first?

Is the car a track only car? The 4 port can very likely make well above 30 psi, VitViper would know much better the full capabilities.

I am running boost by gear with a 3 psi spring, so in first I hit 3-6 psi by redline (creeping a bit, no boost add in 1st with the boost controller) at the track with slicks I can add boost to first and second, haven't figured out the limit for that yet.

No it will actually probably be more of a street car than track. 550 street 700ish for the track.

Think I might just go with the .5 springs for now which is 7 ish lbs and stay above that for first gear with some sticky tires.

thanks for all the help guys and if you can think of anything else that could help I'd appreciate it.

05-11-2014, 03:10 PM
I would be surprised if you can have traction with that much boost. But if you're not too concerned with that, the 7 psi spring will be fine for everything else, especially if you use a 4 port solenoid.

What does everyone think about having two bungs welded onto my radiator?.? One welded to the top and one welded to the bottom to feed coolant to my turbo? I think this will be the best and easiest way to route the water lines.

Ya. Have you checked out my build yet. ;) everything and almost anything is tucked or shaved so no heater lines.. no tb lines. No nothing besides coolant from radiator to engine and back to radiator. I think it would work great to just have a fitting on top and bottom of mishimoto radiator and then I wouldn't have to worry about waiting for thermostat to open or anything and would always have coolant flowing to the turbo when system is pressurized and might be cooler? Idk.

Just looking for some opinions on it before I commit. Lol

I don't see why that wouldn't work, just seemed like a lot of extra work to me, but I didn't realize you were tucking everything.

Why? They are there for a reason and Garrett recommends it.

Setup that is driven for a good amount of time like a street car, yes. To keep temps down.

Setup for drag, not so important due to the short amount of time run. Temps come in fast, so they don't heat up internals to serious levels.

All in all it depends the real use for the turbo and application.

Sorry.

Ya. I wanted the hoses to be somewhat hidden and not up toward the top of the engine. I might take a look at that tho. If I tap the ktuned coolant neck maybe I could use the original drain from the radiator for the other line?

So. Going to try and attempt to start hooking up my boost oil pressure and aem uego this weekend.. did everyone else have to extend all the plug wires?

I hate wiring.. is it pretty much as easy as hooking all 3 red to positive 12v and blacks to ground then plugging them all in?

Taking baby steps. Anyone have any advice that's has ran these before?...

Spaz maybe...
