Well, I guess it's time for a build thread since the boss is on vacation, school is on spring break and i have a few pics of whats coming...
First a little intro. I bought the car back in 08. I was not into cars or going fast but I liked the RSX and got a decent deal on an 03...and the kicker... Base Auto. I didnt know how to drive manual all that well at the time so i wasn't looking for one, and i didn't know anything about the Type-s or the differences really. It was bone stock, but was in an accident but it "looked" like repairs were done ok
First main mod I did was the black outs
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/photo1-1.jpg
interior was a simple type-r console and radio with back seats removed
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/interior-1.jpg
Might get flamed for doing a shift boot on an auto but i dont care because the type-r console looks 100 times better anyways lol
then rear suspension and coils
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/progess1-1.jpg
Then i got big into wire tucking started with in cabin fusebox
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/minituck-1.jpg
Then did a front end conversion, which it sat like this for a loooooonngggg time
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/cslip.jpg
http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd341/ryaano/photo.jpg
Then eps, battery, abs, and ac/heater delete and other things. Still daily driver at this time, but with texas weather didnt really need heater, and i drive with windows down most of the time anyways
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/fullwiretuck_zpsa235f30d.jpg
Then, with a job promotion I decided I would go all the way and do a full turbo build, paint and mini-shave the bay, and 5spd manual swap with a few bells and whistles
First things first Motor must come out....
prepping it
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/construction_zps03766c8c.jpg
and with the major help from monjarassi we were able to pull the old motor out for a complete build
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/motor4_zpsf693186d.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/motorout_zpsdabf4098.jpg
However, as soon as pulled off the head, turns out the block had rot on the sleeves :( so we tossed it for trash and began the search for a full motor. Pics of rot
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/rot_zps7d5c6c60.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/rot2_zps581c6585.jpg
Before picking up the motor stuff, figured i'd do some spring cleaning in the car. Removed the heater core and redid all the wiring.
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/dashout_zps533a213e.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/heater2_zps39216eb0.jpg
EPS wiring
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/IMG_0101_zps00f13bce.jpg
Floor harness with removed amp wiring/srs/seatbelts/abs
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/011_zps7b4a6162.jpg
and scrap wire
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/58526fd8-3957-47a5-99c9-2f2aa838c8e6_zps9059b671.jpg
also did the dash harness but not sure if im going to sleeve it yet. It would be a lot of work. still gotta pick up a fusebox and engine harness and go through those with sleeving.
So after that i was able to get was a k20a2 head, picked it up from a local for a decent price. Wasnt too worried about the condition since i was getting it built anyways. The guy literally gave me the full head with IM throttle body and random accessories
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/typeshead_zps4c22c0e8.jpg
Strip it down and got a full supertech valvetrain and sent it off to the machine shop for decking and rebuild
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/8f6aa8f0-1a50-479e-be3f-0a6f5e9488dc_zpsc7c64354.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/valves_zps432ecdcb.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/completehead_zps94b0c392.jpg
Then found an A3 block for dirt cheap, and started ordering the parts to build that. I didn't want to use oil squirters or the factory oil cooler anyways so there was no reason for me to look for an a2 or z1/z3 block and pay extra.
picked up some wiseco 86.5 9.8:1 piston and BC h beams
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/pistonrods_zpsa5bc6fec.jpg
shipped these off to the builder for the work on the block and got the block back 2 weeks later
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/6d86e5cb-4270-442b-8b8b-2caac3f1ad30_zpscd37f826.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/0033_zpscd4b994c.jpg
Then got a type-s oil pump kit from AFH and installed that in
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/6ec0d9a4-4f32-4ffb-a5ea-6ffcb24cea1d_zpsf0502280.jpg

Then assembled the head with arp bolts, painted the block and Monjarassi came and helped me again with the TCT and valve lash. Never done that before so quite the learning experience
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/blockandhead_zpsb3483d4d.jpg
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/005_zps67039c9c.jpg
and this is where the block sits now, and my current status
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/7324796d-55ec-4e4a-a342-b17e24d09f12_zps3282ca45.jpg

lol honestly, I would usually suggest people to buy a harness from ry-wire or wireworx because building one yourself is very time consuming and still pretty pricey. You do get the added benefit of knowing that you did that yourself and a little of how the wiring works
However, when i get to the engine harness part of the build i will post a DIY on sleeving/labeling it to help out anyone who wants to experiment on theirs

Yup, thats what ill be doing to the ect, tdc, and cps sensors. Just tightly wrap the bare wires with the heat foil pad thingy, and then take the 1000 degree loom and slide it over and finish with a heat shrink

One of the most recent side projects for the build i've been working on, but slacking a little bit with is a cut away center console with battery kill switch mounted in the back. I do plan on using the ktuned shifter and a staging break so the cut away will definitely give me some room to have both. and definitely don't want to hide it. And the kill switch mounted in the back just because i was bored and seemed like a good idea lol
Still in progress, the only thing left is to fill the small dimples, and attach a floor part to the base of the console so you dont see car metal, it will wrap around the contour of the shifter, and probably texture paint it when its all nice and smooth. I'll post more pics when i finish up the work
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/001_zps5fe1739d.jpg
If i happen to mess this up, which i probably will because i've had to start over on it a couple of times, ill just stick to the type-r console lol

I have a thread on here where i talk about the stuff used to do parts like these if that helps. I posted it in the DIY interior section.
But basically, I used 1/8 abs plastic that you can buy in sheets and cut that to size, then I use norton's speedgrip to attach and fill. Hope that helps

Would be cheaper to just wrap it with carbon fiber vinyl or something after you're finished. Ive wasted so much abs sheets doing little projects like these, i can't imagine how much carbon sheets i would have wasted lol

Well some more spring cleaning today. Got a little bored and decided to strip more sound deadening from the car as well as remove speakers. This was alot more work than I thought. I took out the carpet, seats, old wires and also all the door speakers. I dont plan on rocking a radio for a little bit, just at least to I start doing some driving, but for now all that is gone including factory speaker wiring.

http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/003_zpse9114029.jpg
I had already done the trunk a year back so i just needed to worry about the front.
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/0022_zps7270c0e7.jpg
There you can see my little temporary radio block off and my future gauge setup
and after 3 hours of work...
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/004_zps8ef708a5.jpg
I wasn't able to get out allll of the deadening but maybe about 95%. There is still some under the fire wall mat, and on the vertical panels that i honestly didn't feel like doing anymore lol
I did weigh all the sound deadening i did remove and it was around 12 pounds in the front section alone. speakers were another 5 pounds total, so today was a good day to drop another 17~ lbs from the car :)
more to come

So something that has been bugging me for a while was where to mount my electrical panel... i.e. fuel pump relays, fusebox, breakers what nots. I didn't want them lying around in random places and would look more simple have them in one spot. Sooooooo since my glove box is broken, it "might" look good there....
First made the bulk panel and cutout for the fusebox

zip tie mounting like a boss!
Then test fit, still needs some work and I might be able to pull it off, but im still keeping my fingers crossed. Thoughts?

Keep in mind if choose this location, i will make it as flush as possible and form the plastic with the glove box curve
But still testing out other places, but i really dont want to have to find new latches for the glove box if it doesn't work out here lol

One thing I noticed about myself is that I get sidetracked on projects too much....
SOOOOOOO next project was more out of curiosity lol
Never seen it on an rsx before so i thought i give it a shot. Driver headlight was fading bad and has little cracks on the inside that you can see when the light is on, so instead of buying a new light i figured I give this idea a try. Still not completely done yet and needs some cleaning up but here it is. only cost me $3 and a messed up light lol
http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab225/ryaano18/headlight_zps94d98f5b.jpg
Low beam and turn signal still connected without any interference. Not that the car will see much street driving to be used but the option is still there for say a car meet or something
Tube extends to the outside of the light so as to connect to a coupler. More pics later when finished

Nice work, I was looking into doing this same thing for track days.
that's bad ass. I always wanted to do one but the cars not a full blown track car. Awesome job.
What kind of tubing/ring is that for only $3?

Actually maybe more around $2.50 for the tube lol the tube is a speaker tube that you use in a subwoofer box to port. I bought 6 various tubes for different sizes and only spent like 15 bucks

As long as you get Steves consent and a spaz approval you should get the job no problem.

Dash Harness = the worst possible wiring to work with! but deleted more useless stuff like factory security components, cruise control module, all evap wiring, radio and speaker wiring, keyless entry components. Still hunting for more junk such as the relays, but i still gotta go through the schematics and make sure im not deleting important stuff
Heres where im at with it
