Greetings everyone, my name is John and I would like to introduce you to my daily driver... She is a 2008 Honda Civic Si. :wavey:

First, I'd like to start out from the beginning (or near the beginning)...

Here she is in 2010 showing off, yeah she's all motor slow but she gets me from A to B.

Fast forward a couple years...

ahh, the memories.. Supercharged, Aftercooled, and Methanol injected. Still slow, but I love her. (not sure what I was thinking with all those stickers. Added Hp Maybe??)

Now this current build started in the beginning of '13..

Was kinda forced to make some upgrades a little sooner than planned.

It's always a work in progress - fitness, cars, houses, life in general. That's what lets us know we're alive! Well, that and... BOOST! :turbohug:

Happy to have another member, welcome to the family!

What are you referring to? If the turbo manifold, it is a bottom mount like the others out there for the 8th gen - full-race, prl, synapse.

Thanks again y'all!! I'm actually in my last semester of nursing school so I haven't had very much time to work on my car lately. I'm building a little collection of parts though and eventually I'll get back to it!!

I'm running 14 psi in 4th and 5th and I have the DW 1000's

One question I had was what springs and retainers is everyone running??? I'm over 100k miles and I need to get a valve adjustment. I figure I might as well change out the springs and retainers while I'm in there. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am staying stock valvetrain for my motor build for budget reasons and because they work. But a lot of people tend to run the supertech stuff. Although if you are doing a simple valve lash adjustment, that is far less involved that actually changing out the springs and retainers, my understanding is you need a special tool/take to a machine shop to have that done.

Yeah Andrew, After some more research I may just do the valve adjustment for now. Thanks

We have a few guys that have some great experience with these engines and valves (springs/retainers, etc as well) such as vdubkilla PetefromtheStreets Spaz. Let's get you guys chiming in!

I've done many valve adjustments. Nerve wrecking at first. But once you get the hang of it no problem.

Doing springs and retainers while the engine is in the bay is a PIA in an 8th gen a lot of guys pull the head to do them and you should also consider it . If the engine is out its much much easier on the engine stand / floor .If you haven't done them before it's definitely a task as you have to pull the tct ,remove the chain from the cam gears, pull the cams and then you will need a way to pressurize the cylinders with air to keep the valves up top of the cylinder while your doing the springs I used my leak down tester .Also it's a good idea to bring the cylinder your doing the spring on up near the top so should the valve decide to drop down that way it wont drop into the cylinder while your replacing the spring .I bought this to do my springs http://www.euroexportinc.com/honda-acura-k20-k24-valve-spring-compressor it works very well .It compresses the spring so you can remove the retainers. A small pocket magnet works well to remove the old oem retainers as you gotta make sure they don't fall into the head or an oil passage when you compress the spring as that could require major disassemble to get the tiny retainer out. If you decide to do it I'd also get some valve seals and replace them while your in there .I run all Super Tech springs, retainers ,seals and bronze valve guides with oem valves but doing guides requires pulling the head and sending it to a machine shop .Hopefully this helps ya out if you decide to do them .Also I'm not sure which cams your running but that would determine which springs to get I got everything from thmotorsports when I did mine .

Just a quick update... Got a valve adjustment last week and also finally installed my new 4" intake. Trying to decide what to do next
