Love waking up in the morning to my car being smashed by some high school girl that got hit by a bus :angryfire: SHe gets hit in the rear, panics and smashes the gas in reverse, takes down my fence, puts it in drive, drives across my lawn and hits my passenger side door/quarter, puts it in reverse and hits my mothers car and goes back to where she hit the fence. Both my and my mothers cars were parked outside my house. My luck. At least I was in good shape for yesterdays meet :thumb:

GT3076R. Better spool and less needed to make the same power. 35R is really only beneficial if you build your motor and run a return line.

Si Speed 317
04-22-2011, 12:35 AM
After speaking with several people, I've been told exactly what you posted. So, needless to say, GT35R it is!

vdubkilla

I had a 3076 r and wanted more so I sold my t3 manifold .Went T4 twin scroll and was torn between a 6265 or a gt35r . I chose the 35r I enjoyed the 30r but 463 / 314 on pump was not enough for me .Its a great street turbo but I want to run the track also and run race fuel and the 35 r will get me alot more power !

Si Speed 317
04-23-2011, 09:05 PM
6265 is a bigger turbo than a 35r so it will output more power, but the 35r is cheaper :thumb: Any pics?

vdubkilla
04-24-2011, 10:34 PM
I am really no fan of Precision and the Garrett 35r should do just want I want it to do for now .I may go bigger down the road but for the street the 35r should be an awesome choice an stay in one piece .:turbosmiley:

Si Speed 317
04-25-2011, 03:54 PM
Might as well go with a Precision 6262bb or 5857. Both are awesome

vdubkilla

Garrett is already paid for and on the way

vdubkilla
05-10-2011, 12:07 AM
the 35r was alot more than the 6265 but opted for the 35r the car is done tuned and awesome .I love the spool and the power its and awesome set up with the twin scroll 35 r

Si Speed 317
05-10-2011, 01:52 AM
^ Nice, but the 35R was more in price than the 6265? It's only $20 or so more than the 30R (1,219 at evans-tuning IIRC). I wonder the overall difference between a single scroll and twin scroll 35R..

vdubkilla
05-10-2011, 08:08 AM
yeah i could have gotten a precision turbo cheaper than the 35r but opted for the garrett and the price difference in single and twin scroll is minimal

Si Speed 317
05-10-2011, 10:44 AM
Was it the non-ball bearing? That's the only way I could see that happening. The 5857BB is $1400 shipped brand new (lowest I can find it) and the 35R is still like 1,239 from evans.

vdubkilla
05-10-2011, 07:28 PM
I could have bought precisions for a deal from somebody who wanted to give me a deal due to previous issues we had .My Garrett cost me $1436 with a 106 a/r v banded and banjo fittings .I guess I paid a little more than Evans is selling them for but I had called ATP and a few other places .Makes me wonder if evans is selliing them cheap to move product or is unaware of a price increase .I like the Garrett glad I bought it and its not the first time I paid more for Quality parts !

Si Speed 317
05-12-2011, 10:08 AM
The price increase is on the new GTX series, not the older ones. If anything, the older ones would stay the same in price. However, from a sales point of view I can see why they would increase the price.

Si Speed 317
08-30-2011, 10:39 AM
I believe it, the new GTX turbos are pretty awesome. But, tuning with the 100+hp is very important. And here's the read up on twin-scroll vs single scroll topic http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-0906-twin-scroll-turbo-system-design/viewall.html

There are a few ways to go about this. I've heard rerouting your dumptube to your downpipe will aid in boost creep, you can also get a larger wastegate or another wastegate port in your manifold. You also may be able to redo your wastegate port on your many and correct the issue. Whats your setup?

Rbsjnh
05-19-2012, 09:20 AM
what kind of manifold is creeping?

boosted_teg
05-19-2012, 05:36 PM
its a db fab manifold. Few others i have seen had one and it didnt creep this bad. i might venture into another gate, or an AFI manifold.

http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/23594_383375451739_502766739_3709569_4243440_n.jpg

i even had the wastegate ported out larger.

boosted_teg
05-19-2012, 05:40 PM
Last year it would hold 17psi but that was with a 2 1/4 exaust creating a lot of back pressure.

Si Speed 317
05-19-2012, 06:03 PM
Wait, it's creeping 20psi or creeping to 20psi? Because there's a big difference, lol. I can see why it would creep though.

Rbsjnh
05-19-2012, 06:23 PM
The mani is probably the culprit. I will start a thread for the jdl design stuff threthread

well today it seemed to work better. the tuner worked the boost controller a little more, and we got to add some timing to it along with the meth. it stays in the 15psi range from 4900-7000, then creeps to 17 by 8000... then i was just scared lol

boosted_teg
05-20-2012, 12:44 AM
if all else fails, ill sell it and buy a new manifold, or buy another wastegate to have it welded on the bottom

PetefromtheStreets
05-21-2012, 09:33 PM
I would save the money of buying another gate and go with a well known and r&d'd manifold like AFI or FULL-RACE. I've seen a lot of people try and modify the mani's with little success.

Koreo
05-22-2012, 03:48 AM
Got mag tuned today. Couldn't figure out why I was over boosting even with the settings on the hondata boost controller on the lowest. was seeing 18lbs when i wanted to get tuned to 10-12

so we just turned off the boost control and tuned off my WG spring.

Any anys why it wasnt working?

All vac line are hooked up correctly.

vdubkilla
06-01-2012, 12:27 AM
Well whats going on with the car ? Is it fixed ? you buy a different manifold ? wg ?

boosted_teg
06-02-2012, 10:47 AM
so it doesnt creep on the gate spring? but it does on the boost controller?

by the way. anyone knw what "piece" full race and similar companys use to create this "tear drop" desing?

what type of boost controller is it ? and have you tried a different one ? I was discussing boost creep the other day and or boost by gear with somebody .It was brought to my attention that with the boost controller I ran last season (mac valve /hondata solenoid )would have issues if the wheels spin down low spiking rpms the computer would cause the boost to spike as the computer sees big rpms and allows the boost to go to whatever it is set at in that gear .I hadn't thought of this but it makes sense although maybe not your issue I thought I would share .I will likely be running the aem unit this season when the car is finally done .On another note if I were you and the t3 is creeping I think I would have to consider a FR mani in twin scroll I went from an AFI t3 that creeped to a Full Race T4 TS and have 0 regrets man its more $ but wow its well woth the money imho

The phone number I had for him was turned off. He even told me he is just ignoring people because he's just to busy.... If that is the case it's bull shit he took on all these projects... he could easily whip out my kit in a week or two. He has a premade intercooler already. Just needs to make my manifold which he should have a jig for and then my piping.

He is suppose to get me a precision 6262 with tial wastegate and bov with his tucked intercooler/radiator. Downpipe and dumptube. Pretty much a full kit.

Those are the plug n play ones huh? What you could do is cut, extend, soder and then heat shrink em and make them come up threw the center hole on the RBC. I also have some clips that r black if you wanna trade but their not P&P ud have to soder em. (just throwing it out there if you don't like grey ;) )
Also you can tap the bottom of the RBC and run the breakbooster, bov & Evap down there & remove the fittings from the top and have them filled. Also remove the clip on the map sensor and tuck it in the side. Here's a pic of that.

Con leave. So I got no idea what is going on. First it was my junk2 fuel rail crapping out on me and I used my stock one and everything was fine until we turned up the boost and when I hit 7500 it went lean. So I replaced the fuel pump since I thought that was the issue and a new fuel cage and took it for a drive now during part throttle it is reading rich and lean on boost. I am going to replace my O2 with a new one and then new injectors since the one I purchased I thought was new but turne out they where used and I thnk they are going to shit. But I cannot even drive so this will be a slow process.

Its a stock fuel system, crushed fpr and walbro 255 high output plus ID1000s now if I max them out I would be sitting at like 700hp. Stock manifold and TB. I am in the process of buying parts to make one. Gotta love doing online sales ;)

VTECFRED
08-26-2012, 01:55 AM
What are your injector duty cycles?
How much boost are you running?

Those injectors require a fuel return system to come close to supporting 700HP.

Sent using my Galaxy S3

aLmk
08-26-2012, 10:33 AM
Yeah even with your crushed fpr and roughly 70psi base fuel pressure at 20 psi of boost your injectors will only have 50psi of fuel pressure. That's why you need a fuel return to really make big power.

ksboi
08-26-2012, 08:39 PM
I wrote that wrong. I meant because if I was maxing out my fuel injectors then it would be at a high ass horsepower. Duty cycle is fine but I think since I got some used injectors that one is failing. I have had two people injectors just crap out on them. Boost was set at 14 psi in 3rd gear.

Does anyone know why is it that kswap cars always have to use kpro? How come we can't just hook up a 8th gen ecu & use flashpro?

I think because of the immobilizer.

I thought it was because FlashPro is needed on an Si ECU, KPro on an RSX ECU.

No. They are not all the same but I'd probably use the harness that came off the motor your trying to swap.

Is the filter by the fuel rail? If so I was told to run a 10/20 micron anything else was kind of pointless. I have not tested but I will be getting a 10 micron by fuel rail and inline 40 micron right after the fuel cage.

Would kpro be pnp to the Rsx,Rsx-s & ep harness?

If u take a motor apart to do a piston/rod install do u always have to resurface the head and deck the block? I'm a super noob to internals and was looking in to doing pistons & rods but not sure about what's completely needed

Might as well get it done. Why are you installing internals?

Yes if it has never been apart

Fred, fawk, so when installing internals on the block what other type of things do u have to do? Until earlier today I thought it was as easy as opening the motor, throwing in the rods/pistons then putting the head back on  how much do. Think it'd cost if minus the pistons and rods?

Ksboi, cuz kid 400's gets old fast lol

Idk nothing for sure but I've been debating picking up a spare motor and building it for when this eventually blows.

Fresh best bet get a spare short block and build it so that way when you swap it no down time. Get ARP head studs and multi layer head gasket. I can make up a list of parts I got on my block. I had my k20a2 block bored from 86mm to 86.5mm with eagle rods and wiesco pistons. I went with 10.8:1 compression so its close to stock but its good enough the block can handle 700. You could sleeve it for extra protection but I can get it all. Maybe I can do a whole package deals. Oh also get someone to help on the main bearings! Its took the, 4 tries to get the correct bearings since two were different. Get all new gaskets, O rings man.

If you do pistons you should give a shop your block to be bored and honed and they should cut your rings too.

I wouldn't go more .5mm over on your cylinders.

if you're not doing valvetrain you still have to disassemble the head to have it decked. So might as well do valves and springs.

I paid $550 for labor on cylinders and head.

Fred how do you like your galaxy s3? Z3 or a2 engine? The valvetrain on the z3 is fine unles you run different cams. I have read about skunk2 stage 2 cams tearing up the valvetrain.

would u be able to keep the stock bore or do u always have to go bigger? reason i ask is because ive seen too many problems with aftermarket headgaskets. i have a gtx30 so im hoping to maybe make 650ish on rods and pistons and e85. i really dont wanna have to spend more on a new turbo unless its needed. i saw a guy on 8th make mid 600s on a similar set up but he had a gt35. i know the 35 is bigger but it seems to have the same power as my turbo according to garretts website. (unless im reading it wrong?)

is that something u can just go do at any shop or is it something u have to spend a good amount of time researching reputations?

seems like a simple piston rod combo could run threw the roof fast :(

Oh no man piston/rod combos can go from 500-1300 depends on your HP goals. I used cometic HG great reputation man. You don't have to bore it at all. If the walls. Are fine just hit up machine shop and see what they say. I did mine because I got a stupid deal!

I love my S3 :)

I went with Brian crower cams and 8000+ miles no issues ;) and I bounce off the rev limiter lots hehe
